Ben our fuel gauge went out on our 245 several years ago,so from then on we just find a stick and put it in the tank and eye ball it.A stick never stops working!!There is always something in need of repair around here.Yesterday it was the clutch in my forklift.If you haven’t got troubles check you pulse,you may be dead😂GOD BLESS!!!

Yes if you use equipment it will cause trouble. This gauge has been broke all my life, I thought well I’ll fix it. Nope still not working. Oh well it’s been 35 years that way a few more won’t matter. Thanks for watching!

Nice looking 245. First orchard model I've seen.The sheet metal on my '81 245's a pain to line up as well. Bought it used for 4000 dollars in 02 to set out tobacco and pull a 4 row no till planter. She still works hard with my sawmill. Just had the injector pump rebuilt. Like your shop, and your channel. Will subscribe.

From my experience with the older massey tractors the oil pressure controls the charging system by a pipe on the left side of the engine block gauge on the dash that's hook up to battery meter

Great video. The 245 is a fine tractor IMHO. Your sheet metal and grill (including the heavy cast grill and screens) bolts together just like my MF 1105.

Yes they are the same hood and grill style. Yours is just bigger. What year is your 1105, I think this is a 1978. Thanks for watching!

It is possible for the sending unit to fail to read full. If you have a multimeter, check dc volts from the battery to the sending unit at various fuel levels. I assume that it's a 0-5vdc sending unit that will read 0 volts at empty and 5 volts at full. Ill try to find a wiring diagram for that tractor to make sure I'm not full of it. Well I’m not sure. I know on the 135 when the sending unit went bad the gauge read empty. I think it’s where the new gauge isn’t set up like the original, but not sure on that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Wells repair, Greenville TN is a Massey Dealer, Maybe the oldest around the tri cities, they have been helpful on information in the past to me u may give them a ring on the phone about that fuel gauge.

I sold my Massey 245 last year ... that hood is a pain in the rear for sure. I wished they made them easier to work on

@@khtractors Thats true. Other than a blown head gasket and a thermostat it di pretty good while I had it and for its size it did pull like a big one.

Should be where the coolant return hose is attached. Remove that neck.

I have a 1978 230 Massey what is the difference between it and the 245?

Horsepower is the only difference between it and a standard 245. Mine is an orchard model which has a heavy front axle, cast centers, and wet brakes. I think they may have made some 230’s in the orchard configuration but not sure. Thanks

There is yellow paint under the gray on the rear end any ideal why? thanks for your help I am a lot of things a farmer is not one, however with the way things are headed we may all soon be.
