Thanks for watching and hope this vid helps! I've seen people say you can cut a hole through the ebrake shroud and knock out the studs and insert studs that way. I didn't want to do that and I also couldn't find a suitable spot to do so.

I see you finally got a quality drill. All you need are impact sockets now

Lol true. I have impact sockets for the high torqued bolts, but not for the little guys.

Good job Dave! Actually you make it look fairly easy lol. I guess it’s just a lot of stuff to take apart but not super complicated. Thanks for info on how to do this it helps to know how it all fits in there. Your rims are gonna look dope.

Thanks for the comment. I worked out most of the kinks when I did the Passenger side and that made the driver's side go a lot quicker. Hope this helps is you ever need to replace a wheel bearing 👍

Just stripped 2 studs trying to run a 7mm spacer on the stock studs and nuts lol big mistake. Pretty disappointing to see the entire hub assembly needs to be removed to replace them! Ah well your video will be a huge help when the time comes to swap them out.

Nice job Dave! Replaced all 4 of my shocks today, but broke a left rear lug nut stud when taking the lug nuts off. So, I’m gonna have to do this. Looks fairly easy

Tires are super nice. I'll see how they drive in a few days, so hopefully they perform as good as they look. Sounds like they should based on all the reviews I've seen and read.

Let me know what you end up doing for your center cap. C7 caps will snap right in, but I wanted to keep a C5 logo in them. I filled the MMR logo with bondo and then sanded smooth and color match painted the cap. Then I found someone to make me a small red C5 logo decal.
@YellowVette04
@YellowVette04 3 жыл бұрын
For now I'm just going to leave the MRR black center cap. I'm sure I'll color match it at some point, but I'm in no rush to do so.

I know it all to well, one corner left on bushings, ball joints and rod ends. Almost had to start a revolution over the shock bushing, it took all of my cunning and most of my wisdom to come up with a plan. But by the grace of zora that bitch slid in, you know you too pissed when you win but still pissed. Hahaha

@northeastpull735
@northeastpull735 3 жыл бұрын
That was so much worse than I was expecting lol. Mostly all caused by that third star nut for the wheel bearing being behind the ball joint. I think when I did my S10 ones I was able to just sneak it out by turning the wheel but that was the front obviously.
@gotmylk
@gotmylk 3 жыл бұрын
Good video brother. Depending on mileage it may have been a good idea to do the wheel bearings while you were in there. They come with the studs and Timkens are only about $100 each. I replaced them on two c5s one at about 80k and the other 90k miles. One set because they needed it and the other set because I accidentally purchased two sets of rears. So figured why not do the preventative maintenance.
@YellowVette04
@YellowVette04 3 жыл бұрын
I thought about and almost went with new bearings. Mine are fine at 62k so should have a few more years until they need to be replaced. At least now I know how to do it lol.
@gotmylk

@@YellowVette04 yeah you should be good for a while. It's an easy job anyway. It's harder to find free time than it is to work on a C5. The C5 is one of the easist cars I've ever worked on. (70s and older cars excluded).
@YellowVette04
@YellowVette04 3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I've never really worked on a car before this one, so I'm learning as I go. Fun process for sure.

I appreciate the comment and sub. I'm not as well versed in the C6 world as I am with C5s. The best places to get info like that are corvetteforum.com or a C6 Facebook group. I can guarantee that question has been asked on both of those and you'll find your answer. Sorry I didn't have an exact answer, but didn't want to give you wrong info.
