Chris, What I especially liked about this video is you clearly know what you're doing. You were well prepared and used a jig to hold the unit. I was also impressed that you had a wiring harness available to hook up your pickup assembly to check for operation. Well done. Regards, Tom

You guys should produce and sell that wood gadget to place the CD PRO PLAYER on while you're working on it.

This was very cool. I have a Phillips CMD12 that I just sent out for repair and I’m fairly sure that this is similar to what they will be doing with my unit. It’s just interesting to watch. Thanks.

nice work, these guys and nsm are so helpful for us old juke enthusiasts. Mine unplugged while playing, blew a fuse , I fixed all that, fixed a lot of things, then now I get error 61 on some cd's. About half of them, it doesnt like pearl jam either, but I dont blame it lol. But if I burn a cd on the computer and put it in the juke it plays every time, even cds that play have no skipping or tracking issues and sound great. Does this sound like the laser? and below that board is a variable resister adjustment, can you tell me what that is for? And a link to an affordable replacement laser for a vau1254/11 would be helpful but it makes no sense, the cds that play, always play no problem. Why all of a sudden cant it read some and not others, the surfaces look the same

Hi Mr. Chris Bisha, good video. I wonder if I may ask for some tips/advice/help (kindly), from you, regarding a CD player I currently own. It's a (1986) Magnavox (Philips) CDB 650 player with a cold from start issue. Symptoms are it plays the first ~4 tracks of a disc fine, but at about the 5th track (varies), a high pitch sound occurs, as it continues to play. It's not too loud, but noticeably different, and not normally present when all's well. As the player warms up with 'play' time, the occurrence (whine) moves out (in tracks). Also, a little while after this 'whine' occurs, the machine stops, (the head returns to home position), with display showing the initial disc as read when loaded (as though one had pushed 'stop' button). One CD is worse than others with this issue, and the problem ameliorates with 'play' time. That is, plays more consecutive tracks (from the CD's beginning) until commencement of said symptoms. If player is in 'play' long enough, (~1 hr+), nearly the whole CD becomes playable. I don't know if the noise is coming from the focusing coil or the arm motor. (My guess the latter). The spindle motor (hall effect) runs just fine, and I can hear it moving from track-to-track with its normal soft spin/zing noise. And thus I tend to rule that out. The machine has a radial motion arm that holds the laser/photosense diodes. I've taken the drive electronics board off (as you do in the beginning of this your video), and made static conductivity measmts through the flex connections and it checks out ok. Although, the player looks to have factory retrofits (I'm the orig owner, from new, & have not heretofore had the drive electronics/assembly apart). Is there any advice/help you can kindly offer, please? Any advice/help is much appreciated. (I'd like to keep this machine, as I have changed the coupling caps in its output stage, sounds nice, and has a nice keyboard for track selection). Thank you so much, in advance, Mr. Bisha. God Bless. tonyd\.

Hi Chris. I have a Amy Rowe Nostalgia with a CD Pro Philips. At first It started to need warm-up time to work normal. It picked up a CD as usual and place it properly but it won't turn the CD at all as if there is no CD found. It will repeat such procedure twice and the CD simply won't turn or other times spined without play. After sitting idle for about 1 -2 hours, it returned normal again….. I just change the Optical with your Good instructions, thanks ;), putting a CMD 12.4 but continues with the same problem. Ah, I just change the Mech Board too because blinks 3 time the Board Error when I want to put new Cds or Reinicialize all. And now does not recognize any cd. What can I do ? Which is the part to fix exactly ? Thanks for your reply. JC
