REPLACEMENT LLEYN EWE LAMBS | PEDIGREE OR COMMERCIAL?

3 жыл бұрынToday we are looking through all of the ewe lambs in the flock and choosing which ones are up to the standards to register pedigree for the A flock at the farm. On top of this, we are picking lambs for the Ross-On-Wye pedigree Lleyn sale.

How do you choose which ones to sell and which to keep for breeding?

They all look good to me Will though pedigree breeding is a different world to commercial breeding does poor Ellie ever get a day off lol

Sorry I should of simplified it but I lost the audio. I pick them first through look and type (pedigree/personal preference) and then look a it’s stats. If it had performed badly it gets put into the B flock

When Texel cross then it's ok.I have no problems.

@@CowleyHillFarm Charollaise. Easy lambing great butcher lamb and fast growth rate. We have always had a charollaise ram and the ewes lamb by themselves.

@@aodhanfeehan8037 they’re gaining popularity again here in the UK they seem to have won a lot of the show championships this summer

@@CowleyHillFarm yes they have. No 1 terminal breed. It's about having alive lambs when u have a easy lambing sire like charollaise unlike many other terminal breeds which are hard to lamb or too small
