As someone else mentioned, handbook simply says remove screw, disconnect electricals, remove headlamp, replace bulb...but conveniently forgets to mention the plastic clips that have to be released! Great vid, a big thankyou.

Great video. Just purchased a Focus with a bulb hanging out. I spent 20 minutes trying to get the connector on with the bulb in place - then read you need to put the bulb in first then clip the connector on - 60 seconds later job done!

Brilliant. A colleague asked if I knew how to change a bulb on his 2007 Focus after being quoted an hour labour. Quick search, found this and swapped the bulb no bother. Thanks for sharing this information.

Thank you for this. The fact that the previous owner had taken it upon themselves to cable tie the headlamp into place caused a few cuss words when I finally discovered what was preventing me from un clipping the headlight cluster!

Thanks a lot, due to this video i was able to change the headlamp successfully without any damage to my Ford Focus 2009..

For my 2007 Focus, once the headlight assembly was off (the hard part) there was a hard cover with latches over the bulb units, which were also different.- but both parts pretty obvious to work out. I would never have known where that the two casing latches were so easy to move out without this, so many thanks.

Thanks... Garage not open due to Cronovirus and modern cars not easy to get to the lamp... after watching the video, having a cup of tea and then watching video again, the job was relatively easy once you found out where the retaining clip was.

Just changed 2 head lamp bulbs in 5 minutes. Brilliant video which saved me 13 quid for fitting at Halfords! Many thanks

When inserting the new lamp must bulb be installed first, then the contact. as everyone knows. Much smoother.

Just changed mine on my 2005 Focus which was slightly different to yours as regards the housing on the back but otherwise basically the same.The clips were a real bugger to locate but with the aid of a torch I eventually found both of them with the screwdriver.Re-clipping back in after was also a pain but got there in the end. Thanks for putting the vid online,got the bulb from Amazon for £1 and now fitted myself saving myself a tenner at the garage.Top Man!

I found the two clips mentioned in the manual - but what the manual doesn't say is that you have to wiggle the unit quite a lot to release it (in fact the manual doesn't even say you have to lift the headlamp unit out - which is pretty obvious, but why not state the obvious?). Your video gave me the confidence to do just that. Plain sailing once the unit was released. Many thanks again.

Thank you. The manual says nothing about clips, and in fact the illiustration doesn't show any rubber fittings and tells you to unscrew the back panel off. Thank God for KZfaq and for people like yourself.

Can I just say most of you have misaligned bulbs now!!!!! Look at your light pattern on the floor in front of your car!! Not right. The removal is perfect !! But place the bulb IN THE LIGHT BEFORE you re connect the wiring. Or the bulb will sit facing upwards. It's just as quick and you get the correct beam pattern. You will notice a huge difference!!! Go look at your bulb through the light it should sit flat and not tilt upwards.

thanks this was very helpful, took alittle practice, couldn't find the second clip at all but then was a button like marked in yellow device on side inner side which when pressed seemed to release it quite well

Great video. I'd never have found the headlight assembly second clip without it. BUT, a previous poster is spot in about placing the bulb in its hole before putting the connector back on. It's actually easier to do it that way too. The metal lug on the bulb is designed to only fit one way (toward the bonnet/sky) in the headlight assembly! Once inserted, push the wiring connector onto the bulb and move the small plastic clip on the connector (bottom end, facing the floor) until it clicks into place.

Thanks for this - I hate having to get garages to do this for me and I managed to change both my headlamps in about 10 minutes (not particularly mechanically minded!).

Cant believe how simple this is.... instruction manual says undo screw, remove power cable and remove headlight assembly. Make no mention of ANY clips at all spent an hour F-ing and blinding at the car and yes after watching this changed both bulbs in 4 minutes! why dont they just say oh there are two clips here and here in the damned manual!!!!!!!

Follow these instructions for effortlessly changing the bulb and saving a lot of extra work or £8 odd fitting charge at Halfords. One tip...before buyibg a replacement bulb check tonsee the existing hasn't worked loose, I did and saved discarding a perfectly good bulb.

An additional point. I have noticed many cars with yellowish front perspex. I recently bought a used replacement off eBay for £10 that was yellow. I gave a good rubbing with mix of T Cut & Bar Keepers Friend and a final buff with car polish and came up like new. This can also make a difference at night.

Mine was different. Had to remove the grille by removing 4 plastic push pins and their plastic seating, followed by prying the bottom half out of the plastic clips holding the bottom in. This allowed me to get to the final bolt and washer that was covered by it (3 total holding the headlight assembly in). Mine's a 2008 focus se coupe (perhaps the difference?). Hopefully this helps anyone who has my model. Took me forever to get the grill off because of terrible instructions in the manual (I guess that's the same hahah).

Great instructional video, BUT, any time you handle a halogen bulb you DO NOT touch it with your fingers. I find just a pair of those 'Brown Jersey' gloves work great, they're cheeeeeeeeeeeep! If you can get a pair of latex gloves, they're even cheaper! I just use cheap gloves and toss em out when I'm done
