Thank you so much for this video. It's the first one I've seen that explained how to TEST the heating element. I thought maybe it was a fuse but after watching your video I think it's the element itself. I have the exact same setup on the back of my dryer. When I tried to test continuity on the element I received not resistance just like your video.

Good shit! I love these calls for dryers. I'm a pro with an electric dryer and troubleshooting. It's so easy! Never had to work on a gas dryer or anything not electric...

I had a dryer that I kept winding the broken elements back together. I had to do it 3 or 4 times over 10 years.

I have this same exact dryer and just ran a dryer vent brush through my vent and hit a block that wouldn't allow me to exit through outside, but I did it both ways and vacuumed out and when I turned it back on, I smelled a burn smell and my dryer inside was super hot. Do you have a video for trouble shooting this or any advice on if it's just the heating element? Could it be the thermal fuse? Or could it be lint burning out? I'm nervous to continue to try running it and am trying to avoid another service call since we just had to buy a new central AC unit and it wasn't cheap.

My heating element didn't look like it had a break in it but it doesn't get hot like this one on the video.

Might be the thermal fuse blown. Test your themal fuse, thermostat, and thermal limit resistor.

My heating element is at the lower back but accessed through a panel on the front. Manual says to pull down and out after unscrewing but it's catching on something. My manual also says thermostat and fuse should read 0 ohms cold. I pulled them and both read 0 ohms.

Without a model # I have no idea about disassembly of the heater - your fuse should always read 0, if it opens, it failed and will read OL

@@ApartmentMaintenancePro its an old speedqueen aem697w. I may have broke a porcelain standoff on one coil but i got it out. The thermostat and fuse read 0 ohms, the coil panel resistance was in spec too. I found a spdt thermostat for the air blower in the manual. Says to test 2 leads while heated, should hear a click. I couldn't handle the probes and lighter at the same time but couldn't get it to click when heated. Ordered a new part. Also replacing some of the spare terminals and wire nuts because the previous owners were hacks.
