Well, Bob, you are a lot stronger than me (at 72), because I just replaced my belt & while putting the mower deck back on & stretching the belt to go around the transmission pulley, I had to have help just to get it on. Now it was cooler out, the belt was new, but it was still a struggle! Thanks, for the tip for those who are strong enough?

Hi@@harrison4803thanks again for the video. So first about the spring replacement. You are probably stronger than me if you pull it with pliers at full tension. That's why I said take the belt off one of the pulleys to relieve the tension first. Then you don't have to fight with the spring. I also saw another youtube video where the guy used a dog leash snap to pull the spring; that would be easier than pliers also. I thought that Idea was pretty smart. 2. Regarding belt replacement, I agree that a new belt is much harder to get on; I do struggle a little with that. I've replaced my belt a lot since I mow through tall thick field grass in the Springtime (twice already this year). Yes I'm very hard on belts. Here's my secret: Don't make the transmission pulley the last to put on. You already have the guard off the left blade pulley, so put the belt around all the other pulleys, then after turning the tensioner pulley, put the belt around the left blade pulley. A new belt is still tight and little hard to get on, but much much easier than around the trans pulley. Also, both pulley are right there together so easier to reach.

@@bobfromoh Bob, do you have to remove the pulley to change the trans belt or do you just slip it over it after locking the movable pulleys in place?

@bob first of all fucking thank you, I've had to replace the belt on the L130 about two dozen times in about 18 years, if this thing was a girl you could legally bang her, that's how long I've been doing this, but the mower isn't the problem it's the douche doing it, my dad who doesn't comprehend due to his "set-in-his-ways" as they say, way of doing shit, so it doesn't matter how thick the brush is or how many sticks and such is in it to get in the deck and break the SOB belt off or least throw it off, so I'm stuck doing this again, sometimes multiple fucking times a day, so I'm used to just using all my strength to loop it around the front, but after a decade or two that gets old :( sometimes I need a friend to help if I have to do the tension spring method or have to replace something major on the deck and I swear to God I once figured out how to do this shit easily and it was exactly how you said, put a 15MM on that and pull using the ancient art of leverage and poof it's easy as that, literally I love you for reminding me how to do this, I had forgotten and had done this the hard way for quite awhile

If you don't remember how it goes on, or have a manual, the cardboard cover on the new belt should have a diagram on how it goes on?

@@dansmith8912 Dan, I got confused thinking that this video was on replacing the belt. With so many JD videos I get confused. The Spring attaches to the pulley.
