A quick video on how to replace the battery on the sealed unit on the Brita Maxtra water filter - I believe the same unit is used on several different models.

1. Free replacement unit from customer services.
Apparently, if you contact the customer services in your country/region and explain the unit no longer works, they will send you a replacement free of charge. If they don't, please don't blame me. This is what I've been told by several viewers. I'm just the messenger.
2. The unit must have been sealed for a reason.
I really don't understand why people keep saying that maybe it's sealed to stop water getting into it. First of all, just think of the ways you could accidentally get water into the unit.
1) Totally submerging the whole lid in a bowl of water (why would you?)
2) Getting water all over the lid (and therefore into the unit recess) by trying to fill the jug without taking the whole lid off. Again, why would you?
Other than this, the only other ways to get water in the unit would be to deliberately pour water onto the unit, go swimming with it in your hand, stand outside in a particularly heavy rainstorm with it, or some other act of god.
And let's just say that somehow, you did actually manage to get water into it. What would actually happen if you got water into the unit containing a 3v battery?
It would probably just stop working. In which case, you can just contact customer support and get them to send you a free replacement.
