ive really not had very many problems with the Volvos, but when I did they are pretty high on parts and they have a high shop charge. as far as warranty work all my stuff is way beyond warranty

They look a ferocious set of teeth and will exert a great deal more strain on the bucket structure surely? Price = very expensive but ought to be some of the best quality Swedish steel. I think that it lasts longer than other stuff in my area of work (not construction work I might add!)

I was getting a week out of a set of teeth on some jobs. Burnt right off. Big fan of the Esco horseshoe lock threaded teeth. Any tooth with rubber or urethane locks end up literally falling apart once you work in stump fires.

chris im just wondering your thoughts on Volvo customer service, my dad and owner have a partnership in a paving company and we have bought a paver and a track steer off of them and we have had nothing but problems with both and they don't do anything for us nothing that they said was covered by warranty is actually covered, we don't plan on buying anything else from them but i just wanna know your thoughts

its seems to me that for the tooth pins there should be a cross linked retainer pin to keep that tooth pin in place

We rented a 210 for a concrete bridge tear out. When I got the hoe it was missing a tooth already so the company that we rented it from put a full set on. The bucket was so wore out that the new teeth wiggled with new pins. I didn't even get the the excavator off the trailer before a tooth fell off. The owners came out to the sight and tried to weld it back on and they decided to weld the other four. Long story short I lost two teeth and they have to buy a new bucket. That Volvo was very nice machine to operate. Very smooth and quick to respond. Cutting grade with a 2 inch was a piece of cake.

Not trying to be a critic but the welds around the shanks are wearing away. It might be time to just clean them up and weld them like 2 beads side be side all the way around each tooth. You are welding cast steel to the cutting edge so preheat to around 400 degrees and use 7018.

@stevehorne10000
@stevehorne10000 11 жыл бұрын
Take one of your old teeth split it down the centre, you can then use the pieces to guide you rebuilding the shanks that are worn bad and the new teeth flop around too much

You are dead right about the cost of the teeth and keepers, a set of tiger teeth for a bucket like that would be over $500.00 for sure

At 100$ per tooth those would have been well worth hard surface welding. Lincoln Electric makes a good welding rod for this application called Wearshield ME or a good wire called Lincore 60. Too bad this machine has way too much power for 23 series JD those teeth can be gotten for like 6$ per tooth on amazon. JD's price is fair it is just a hunk of cast steel no finish machine work or finish grinding. Sorry Volvo puts the hammer on you so hard. Digginok sent me here!

Ya i'd say your doing alright if you can get 1500 hours out of them. The $400 might hurt initially but look how much money they'll make you in the next 1500 hours.

Cat and Kom teeth are also reversible AND you can re use retainers many times. Probably not a country in the world where Cat type teeth are not freely available and dozens of pattern suppliers too

that's cheap. I don't know what they cost for the one I run but can pretty much guarantee damn near double the price and it only has 6 teeth
@leonardo1480

why are they so expensive? if I had a machine that needed teeth a expensive as that I probably be tempted to build a forgery and cast my own, I feel so sorry for guys that have to pay that kind of price for them -- all the best my friend

Obviously it depends on the angle of attack .. if pulled towards the operator and slightly level it will cut through with less force than a blunt worn out one .. just use a little common sense .. a spade shovel thats new or one that has a 1inch round bar welded on the end .. now go shovel dirt

So you get 1500 hours out of these teeth, and you think $450 is expensive? It's about 30 cents an hour for those teeth. If you work jobs that poorly paid, you need another job :-)
