At last! I find someone who explains it clearly! I am in the UK and have two 1960's fittings in a kitchen. The Tubes are burned, the Ballast is "goosed" and occasionally re-starts after an hour or so, and finally the motley collection of starters I have all require some coaxing to work! I dare not remove the fitting as it will destroy the ceiling but want to wire new LED Tubes direct to the power grid (240v) via the wall switch! Having looked on Google Amazon and eBay, I am beginning to think that this method is not allowed in the UK. Could this be why I cannot find tubes which don't need a "starter" bundled with them? The tube I need is a T8 1500mm preferably 4000K and frosted.

Interesting. But looking here at LED tubes at a shop, none of them mention A,B, etc on them. All they say is not suitable for dimmer/timer

what about the plug and play version of led tubes? what category do they fall under. I was told by a person at Home Depot that all I had to do is plug them into the existing fixture. They are 40 inch, 34 W bulbs dual pin. They said they are compatible with T8 or T12 fixtures. My fixture is T8.

The tube sounds like it's probably an A + B tube, or maybe an A or B tube. But not a type C tube. This is good news because those are the most flexible. You're probably good to plug it in

Yeah tube light is very good. But now we use LED lighting, Like the strip light in the shopping mall,panel or troffer light in the office, schoole, highbay light in the warehouse, and vaportight light in parking lots.
