Been in lawn business for 20 years and used to have to kick and cuss changing my lines.Few years back I found the "Speed Feed" head at Home Depot for about $25 and you can also buy just the face plate instead of buying the whole head unit,just snap off the face and replace it when it gets wore out.The Speed Feed head saves a ton of time and effort.When your line runs out just align the arrows with the hole,slide your precut line throught the hole and out the other side,even it out and start twisting/clicking the head and it winds up the line for you.I can do my wire in about 30 seconds and get right back to trimming.I pre cut my lines about 14' for my head,wind it up and tape it with electric tape and keep it in my back pocket.When/if I run out of line while out in the yard trimming I just sit the trimmer down,pull out the line and take off the tape.Then line the arrow/hole up,insert the line,twist and click for 30 seconds and bam I am back to trimming.

One thing to remember is that tapping on concrete will wear out the bump head as I've found out...best to bump on grass or hard dirt to prevent it.

Nice instructions, but it just sent me to another model. I cannot believe they are still in the past having to pull the reel out and wrap the line around the reel then installing. Stihl needs to update the line reloading to the modern era. But your instruction were great, but as noted, moving onto a another manufacturer.

I just did a video regarding my Sthil FS 111. The line going back into the housing, especially after I have replaced it the spool is full. Do you ever get this problem?

This is easy to replace the string but the string is not lasting long and too much trouble to replace the string so often. The best tool is to replace a carbide circular blade can last almost forever.

No need for a screw driver to remove head, simply press the tabs in the holes. No one is carrying a screwdriver out in a field.

So wrong... first, dont use a screwdriver, just push the side buttons with your finger, a screw driver is a good way to bust your trimmer head. 2, after u wind up string and put in the notches to keep string from unwinding. You will notice those notches are in the same spot as your feed holes on trimmer. That is for a reason. When u put spool back in trimmer, aline the the notches on spool with notches on trimmer head, push spool down and turn slightly, it will lock in place. You can let go, everything is locked in place.. Your notches will be slightly misaligned. Now pull 1 string from holding notch and place in feed notch right next to it. Same with other side. Put ur cap back on, cut string and done. It's funny, in the last part of his video, when he puts the cap on, you can see how he adjusted it so notches were lined up. He just didnt tell you guys lol. What a tool!
