--- What is a PCV valve? ---
→ So, what does the PCV valve do? The PCV valve or Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve, draws leftover combustion gases from the crankcase and routes them back into the engine via the intake manifold, where they’re burned in the combustion chambers instead of routing to the exhaust system.
→ An old or non-functioning PCV valve can cause possible performance or emission problems due to being clogged with oil/debris or due to a faulty valve.
→ Cleaning or replacing PCV valves are part of the scheduled maintenance and fortunately they are cheap to replace.
→ Toyota recommends checking and replacing the valve (If needed) every 30,000 miles if it’s faulty.
