I love the 2-patch tip. I remember Jenny sharing it in another tutorial. It saved me a lot of time when I made a postage stamp quilt that came out about 60" square - lots of 2-patches.

Thank you for taking the extra time to turn the placemat. That final hint to snip the inside corner would have been missed, and I could see that it makes a difference to how flat the placemat will sit. I love watching your live stream each week. You are great examples of how to treat your spouse, so that is an extra bonus.💕

It would be lovely to see your quilts and projects stylised into home decor shots. Just like you did with this one, it really helps visualise how these would look in our own homes. BTW, Misty you did really well to get this project done in the timeframe.

Loved this project! Thanks for going long to show the whole process. Depending on the fabric these placemats could be used for any occasion. I like how Misty showed how to speed the process by using a charm pack to create the two blocks. Personally, I would find sewing mini 2 1/2 inch squares together really difficult. Thanks for a great tutorial.

Misty, you did great! Keep up the good work. Love the place mats, totally a different look from the ordinary. Hint: You may want to make several done 'in stages' ahead of time ... less stress and 'on camera time' for you. You are braver than I would be. God bless you and yours. Jake, you are doing a great job, too. (Saving the best for last, Jake.)

It is a really cute pattern however when I do this for myself I will not fussy cut around all of the points, but will top stitch around the edge of the entire piece, then trim off excess batting, etc. and will turn, quilt and close. That way I'll still have the lovely zig zag design in the middle but a regular shape placemat as a finished product..

I hope people are just as vocal on the other site where the camerawoman Always interrupts the hostess and then apologises, throwing off the trend of speech, which can cause information to be 'lost'. That annoys me. Jake's mic is a tad too loud that might be contributing to the issue. Jake is supporting Misty and has no aspirations to go before the camera, can't say the same for the other one. On the whole I love these Lives. Beautiful project.

I can't hear Jake clearly from the background. It seems as if he keeps interrupting and upsets Misty. Just my opinion. Great tutorial. I am making the placemats from floral prints and it is almost impossible to get the colors coordinated especially when you have 24 of the background color to fit in.

I am finding the closing of the part I left open to turn the mat out difficult. Is there a "trick" to make it easier? Could you demo how you close it up when you top stitch the opening? You make it look so easy and fun. I enjoy watching your tutorials.

So is it 3 strips of eight or four strips? At first you said three but later on the assembly I counted four. Or does it not matter and that would just be a way of extending to a table runner? Thank you. EDIT: I did make it last night using 5-6 (can't remember) 8 piece strips and it all balanced out. Of course, it's no longer FQ friendly for the backing but still a nice runner. Thank you for the great tutorial.

Wow, what’s with all the Jake bashing? Jake is doing his job y’all... There are 4 options here... 1) Misty keeps stopping what she’s doing to scroll through the comments and read them. 2) Misty doesn’t answer any questions or interact with the audience during the live streams. 3) MSQC stops doing live videos. 4) We listen to Jake engage with his wife and colleague so she can answer our questions. Jake might not be Jenny or Misty, but he has helped to build MSQC from the ground up and works very hard all over the business. He deserves our respect.
