I don't think there should be a law against helping the whales but a law against losing your nets so if a fisherman leaves with two Nets and comes back with one the fisherman will be fined $5,000 .

Yeah if I see a whale and I know its gonna die I'm a trained lifeguard and know how to calm down marine animals but if I know I can report it and have them come quickly I'll do it immediately no matter what but if its breathing ability is hampered and it could die I'll willingly risk my life to help them no matter the consequences towards me but if I know I cant help the whale I wont do anything especially if its losing oxygen and becoming erratic that's when it becomes very difficult

Whale entanglements happen so often that a PSA is required? We have got to remove the fishing lines & nets.

I think what they mean is that it's generally illegal to physically interact with an endangered species. So, even removing gear is illegal. Because on a general note, people don't know what the hell they are doing. I they would say "yeah go ahead, jump into the water" they would have a major lawsuit if some dumbass gets knocked out by a flipper.

It’s never illegal to do the right thing. If it is in your skill set to help. Do so. I’ve never heard such bs in my life. I have seen many videos of people successfully removing entanglements. Remember this Hawaii, you don’t own these whales, and to pass a law making it illegal to help these creatures is just plain stupid.

sorry but if I seen a whale tangled up I would jump in and try to help it, they can charge me I wouldn't wait for someone else to do it .

I get calling authorities, but illegal? That seems a bit odd. I'd think knowing to not remove airbags is good, but if you can remove other line safely, I say do it and dare a court to give you crap.

Its illegal to try and cut a whale free , says who, if i came across an entangled whale or dolphin i would try to free it if possible without risking my own life. The law needs to ban these fucking nets full stop.
