Destination Adventure

If you are touring the West Coast of North America, you will be able to access the coastline almost anywhere, until you hit Canada. There is no coast road in Canada, and there are actually very few roads or towns to even access the ocean. I have always loved the NorthCoast, because if youre willing to drive a little, you can visit and enjoy several of our few coastal towns, each with such different history and views.
Stewart has been a destination for several years now, because it is a town with basically endless adventure, and given the opportunity, of course I will take the back route there. The Cranberry connector is a beautiful little side tour, that takes you through the Nass Valley and right through the Lava Beds. This section alone is worth the extra time, but I am quite sure you will enjoy the full trip.
Coming out onto highway 37, you only have a short drive before turning onto 37A and dropping down into Stewart, but if time allows, a night at Meziadin Lake is very nice. Pushing forwards, km after km you will be greeted by spectacular views, but the highlight for sure will be Bear Glacier. This is, of course, until it has receded out of sight. Each year I visit Stewart, the Bear Glacier climbs a little further up the mountain. This is a sad reality that I will witness throughout my lifetime, but not one that I can change, so lets not dwell on that.
Dropping down into Stewart, BC is always a delight. It is a quaint little mining town, that has seemed to boom and bust a number of times, but never looses its spirit. The locals are friendly, the history is rich, the views are plentiful and the ocean is too. I hope you enjoy this visit with me, and I hope you get to visit one day yourself as well.

Hey Dustin, Watching your videos was a big inspiration for me to start my own journey. I left Quebec last October and have been exploring Western Canada since. My formula is a mix of house sitting and WorkAway because I did not have the budget to get a decent rv and quite frankly, I hate camping! (LOL) I wanted to express how happy I am to see you sharing this season with Emi. Solo traveling offers the ultimate freedom, but it also puts somewhat of a damper on the experience. I believe that having the opportunity to share it live, with someone that can also appreciate it, is the best way to amplify those wonderful feelings and emotions. Thank you so much for your beautiful, heartfelt productions. You are still inspiring me!

I will never forget that moment because I knew it could be years before I would be back. I never wanted to leave. I loved Stewart…Hyder…missing that amazing area so much. Enjoy! Interesting to drive down the road with your head out the window trying to watch the sky and the road at the same time 🤣! It seems to be modernized unfortunately !
