Corin, I’m glad I found your site and enjoy your videos. I met your father at one of his workshops in Vermont USA back in 2002. Great experience and his signed book is a treasure. When I moved I got rid of my collection but now at 78 I’m starting up again thanks to you and your excellent instruction.

Every time I see a larch, I think MY FAVORITE bonsai. To be fair, I think that about every other bonsai I see, but none more than larches; I don't think I've seen a larch I don't like... My favorite bonsai at home are all...larches. I think that's who I've become and it aint bad.

@@KitakuBonsai very short but with a couple extra hours of daylight each day it helps the trees gain the extra nutrients they need for a strong root system. I keep my smaller trees in a pollytunnel now as I was given 10 year old acer trees that still looked like saplings and in 3 years the trunks are now 2cm from 0.8 cm

Thanks for the video Corin I have repotted mine just one more to check if it needs repotting, I have always believed that the cones on Japanese larch the plates curl at the top whereas the European larch have flat plates, also the bark as you say on new shoots is darker on the Japanese Larch. Looking forward to come to Greenwood’s soon.

Absolutely a better pot for it. The original pot dwarfed it, and made it look like it was coming out of jumper that was too large around the neck. Did you ever record the repot of the Paul Goth 2nd cascade larch? Curious to see if it got a new pot as well. Thank you.

Not just an interesting and informative session about re-potting but also a lesson in how important the pot/tree combination is to the overall image. Also an illustartion that "rules" aren't really rules but guidelines - in this case when it comes to positioning trees in pots pragmatism won the day and the result is just stunning.

With temps here in the USA fluctuating soo much and me doing an approach graft on a japanese black pine if i did it now would i run into problems with the sap flowing or do i wait for it to get colder again and then graft?
