Teasing out the roots definitely does help, I found that out accidentally. I was repotting a massive monstera & I accidentally dropped her!! Split the root ball in half & I was pretty sure that she would die as she looked as shocked as I was lol….ffwd 16 months & she has not only recovered but she’s gone bananas. Many new leaves, lots of new growth & she’s looking a million bucks. I don’t intend dropping her again when I repot her but it showed me that I didn’t have to treat her as delicately as I was previously….she will survive 💚……really enjoyed your video….thank you

Oh my god, Nick it's like you read my mind. I have a friend coming over tomorrow to help me repot this gigantic Monstera that I was gifted last summer. It is about 5 feet wide with all kinds of aerial roots coming out of the pot. It's about 15 years old and has never been repotted. The pot it's in is only half-full of soil. I got a bigger, and slightly deeper pot for it and have been wondering what is the best way to go about repotting it. And you post your video today!! What a coincidence! I now know how to repot the plant without causing any damage. Thank you!

Is the Monstera a real slow growing plant? I see nice ones for sale at Lowes and Home Depot.
@angierose327
@angierose327 Жыл бұрын
@@MrWelfarehater I bought mine 2 or 3 years ago as a small plant with about 4 small leaves. It was maybe 8 inches at that time. Now it's about 3.5 feet tall with 7 large split leaves and several small leaves. So I wouldn't say super slow growing but it doesn't produce an abundance of leaves per year.

@@angierose327 thanks for the information Angie. I guess the Monstera is a cool decoration plant. Really nice, but it takes years to outgrow a space. Personally think it would be better to spend the extra 20 buying it, rather than buying a small one and waiting for the Monstera to grow into a specimen plant. I have seen Monsteras that are 2 ft tall for 30 bucks.

Hi when it comes to glazed pottery I do not mind the blues. If you are ever near a canyon nearing sunset you get those red to cream to orange and blue like tones reflecting off the rocks in nature so altogether its all lovely to the greens of your space. Oh also l got these acrylic poles from home depot and had them cut to stake the plant so they fade into the background.

I have a 20ft ficus Benjamina growing in a planter without holes for drainage with lava rock on the bottom for over 5 years. Plus all of my plants are mostly in pots without drainage. My plants look great and I have over 400 plants… well over 400 plants. 😜 seriously, my monstera is so big I can’t even repot it anymore, and again, no drainage and I have that one for… oh I don’t even know… before it became the it plant, not it is not the it plant anymore. I think it is not about the drainage, it is about how much water you give it

I have a question please my monstera is 7 months old I got her with 4 leafs now I have around 90 and it keep growing so big I upgraded the pot 2 inches bigger but should I just get a huge pot and let it grow in it? I don’t want it to feel tight it provides me with new leafs every day I got her at ikea but I think she was a lucky one from Mexico because there’s no way it’s because of my city’s weather ( Montreal lol ) Thank you for your time and informative video ❤️

I just noticed my roots coming through the bottom of her nursery pot. I’m wondering if I should repot? I just gave her a nice shower though, I’ll have to wait. I keep finding spider webs. I don’t really think it’s spider mites just a regular one. I searched all over for bugs and her leaves look gorgeous. Three new leaves coming in.

Years ago I bought several baby monsteras and potted them together. Now they are huge and I need to separate them, otherwise there is no pot big enough for them. However, their roots form a tight rock-hard nest that is impossible to untangle. What to do? Should I just chop the rootball into pieces? It' s not very happy anymore, but I love it and would'nt want to kill it 😢

I swear monstera roots grow at an absurd rate, no matter how big the pot you give them is they just seem to fill it out within a year and then dont really care very much if they're root bound.

Trudging that big-potted Monstera into the shower, watering it well and carting it back. It is too heavy and a dumb thing to do for your back. Water it where you intend to home the plant.
