Truck and Rescue 50 responded to assist Station 905 (Millersville) on a working house fire in the borough of Millersville. Engine 905 stretched lines in to put out the fire which was mainly contained to a room and the area surrounding it while the crews of Truck 50 and Truck 66 worked on opening up the place. The crew of the Rescue stood by for RIT until packing up and going available within just under 2 hours of operation. Willow Street Fire Company. Taken 12/25/18.
Rescue 50 is a 2003 Pierce Lance.
Truck 50 is a 2003 Pierce Dash.

As a retired firefighter, I can say Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day fires are not unheard of. In my 30 years as a FF, I' ve been to more than one of them.

We had many a fatal house fire over the Christmas period a number of them with multiple casualties. Suicide is also prevalent over Christmas too. I swapped a Christmas Day one year with another Watch Commander and he got a suicide by self immolation that day. Good for me but not so my colleague.

Wow I lost count on how many people pulled into drive aways to get out of the fire trucks way... I've seen some videos people don't move and they have 50 ft of shoulder and still don't yield lol!

Just a thought, extra bucks spent would be well worth a DC intercom/ radio interface. Superior hearing protection and communication's for all crew members. Nice video.

Good vid. You guys have a VERY, VERY, VERY nice rescue squad. Fully loaded. Nice job on the FUNDING. Lack of cash flow is what jams up all depts. Lotta depts are 50 cents away from going back to horse drawn fire engines. So whatever you guys are doing in the funding dept, keep it up. STAY SAFE!!!!

Appropriate use of horns and sirens unlike some departments who seem to be wailing and blasting away at empty two lane roads as if they are in downtown New York City just because they have to get their fill of siren and air horn in till the next call. Smooth careful driving and nice use of the rescue stokes to carry tools too.

I only use the air horn when vehicles won't move or in heavy traffic and I use the yelp setting on the sirens only going through intersections

Unfortunately, fire knows no dates, times, events, etc. As the same for death. I had a call on Mother's Day for a VSA. Turns out, the man was calling his Mom for a few days to see what plans she had for mother's Day. She never answered ,so on Mother's Day, he went to her house. She never answered the door. He broke in, and found her on the ground beside her bed. We arrived, and found her on the ground. She had been there for a long time ! Her body was stuck to the carpet, and several bugs were eating her legs from the inside !!

Just curious....if there's any firefighters from this department....why do you use the same rig # on every apparatus ? We have always been under the impression that you avoid that at all costs. It leads to errors in which rig is dispatched. I know at 4am, I find it hard enough to get my shoes on the right feet :-) If you name the numerical different, you take that right out of question. Example : you have Truck 50 and Rescue 50. Can't you take Truck 50 and rename Rescue 50 to Rescue 49 ?

50 is the station number. 49 and 51 are whole different stations in whole different areas. We just know what is going because while they do say the unit in the dispatch, we typically know what's going to what just out of our own knowledge. We also get texts that read the units of and they'll say what is dispatched 3 times all in alphabetical order. So we usually are good

Also a truck and a rescue are two totally different things Rescues main focus is searching for people trapped in a burning building, help with removing people from car accidents if there a lot of cars involved, and help with ventilation of a burning building if needed Trucks are the ones putting out the fire along with the engines, sometimes help ventilate, and if the first to arrive on scene and are informed of people still inside a burning building start search & rescue operations I think I’m not a firefighter but I’ve seen some videos to know somethings
