Carrying rescue kit in our buoyancy aid or PFD that’s multi purpose and compact is a great idea.
Here’s a useful video on something I carry on me all the time, with some of the simple uses and of course how to tie a Paddle Sports Rescue Cordlette.
If you have any other ways to use it please ping me a message or drop a video.

I know the knots you're using as Fisherman's knots. Regardless of names, it's a great system.

Glad you like it. Just to help out a fisherman’s knot is when a single end is passed back through, this used a bite passed back so becomes a capuchin knot.

Out of curiosity, why is your quick release on your bouyancy in locked off mode?

If you look at the Palm Equipment website this will update you on their chest harness systems.

@@outdoorinstruction so it does, I’m guessing this is just a new design for Palm harnesses. V interesting as it goes against harness advice. I’ve never seen the clamp system fail and someone with an older palm harness or other brand copying this could end up in a non release situation 🤔

Absolutely. This is why we should receive proper training for each product we use, keeping updated on current advised good practice and ensure it’s used and fitted properly.

@@outdoorinstruction the term current good/best practice is something that fits all equipment or situations, such as clean lines on throw lines. So current best/good practice on bouyancy aids is not to use the lock off the buckle. I don’t doubt that Palm have put a lot of effort into designing this, but their use of the term best practice is not correct. Correct fitting of our new amazing harness, yes, but not best practice. Outside of Palm current harness this could be misleading info. I am current but haven’t seen the new Palm harness before, so it’s good to have these robust conversations that help people keep up to speed 😀

It’s actually something that’s being brought in industry wide probably over the last “maybe two years”. It’s not only a Palm Equipment approach, also Peak Uk are advocating this with their harnesses too. Possibly others as well . So with the new generation of harnesses it’s now a case of full lock the main buckles (set and forget) and only adjust the harness length with the side adjustments systems. This current best / good practice takes the decision making out of things thus increasing safety for the paddler or rescuer.
