Ajay has huge amount of experience and he solves many tricky situations during rescues. As you write, he is great in handling King cobras gently so they don't start to be very defensive. At the end it is visible that the snake is still pushing its head against the other end of the bag. Ajay knew that and that is why he was leaving the bag opened a bit. The key thing there was to close the bag properly asap before the King returns and it was easier in the way he did it.

@@LivingZoology More to the point, the entire strategy employed was inappropriate given the target, a large king cobra, one that does not seek darkness in attempting to flee, as this snake amply demonstrated. An appropriate capture apparatus would have been, for one example, a large sturdy net, openings smaller than the girth of the intended subject, with a large opening and a constricting device there attached the likes of a snare that could be INSTANTLY CONSTRICTED once the subject had passed. Nonetheless you can stress Ajay's "huge" amount of experience, at the same time failing to consider that (unknown to you) of this writer.

@@fcardini You are completely wrong that King cobras don't seek dark holes. They do and normally the rescue looks like this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h8t2ib1l2Zy6mIk.html This snake was an exception, we already filmed a nice number of Kings and 90 % of them go into the bag in 30 seconds. If there is a way how to safely and easily catch big diurnal snakes into a net, we would love to see it. We work with venomous snakes around the world and we never met someone using nets. For Kings it is easy to use bags, for mambas big buckets, big bag or bucket for a bushmaster, etc. Soon we will hopefully try taipans and other snakes in Australia.

One other great Indian snake rescues once said that a King should be handled using a hook as little as possible .... I think he has a point 😎

Actually, he didn't take ANY chances at all. This was about a 9 foot snake, which means his flash range is 4.5 feet - the rule of halfs. A snake can only strike at half it's body length, so as long as you stay outside THAT range, the snake could flash at you ALL DAY LONG, & not reach you - gravity always wins. The OTHER rule he was using is the rule of thirds, which says as long as you stay AWAY from the front 1/3rd of the snake (the business end), & use a hook, he can pull a u-turn on you 10 times, and you can always use the hook to keep his head AWAY from you... You just have to make sure you DON'T hesitate. The second the snake turns back on you, you start guiding it. The other thing he did was with the tail. If you'll notice, every time the snake reared on him, he started at the end of the tail again. Which meant he was farther away from the snake & the snake didn't feel cornered. These snakes only flash you if they feel cornered or threatened. That's why some people have cobras living in their homes & NEVER get bit... The most dangerous part of the whole thing was when he was getting it out of the tree. I would NEVER let a snake just drop on the ground like that. It's like punching a human in the stomach & a lot of times, the snake gets pissed. He probably did it for safety, but I wouldn't, if the snake wasn't alright reactive. Some of us do this AS A JOB, & it's all about the body language. I could teach you the rules in 2 minutes, but if you don't watch how the snake acts, you'll get bit. And hesitation is a BIG thing too. These snakes decide what they are going to do & they COMMIT to it. They aren't scared, because they have fangs. So YOU better be damn ready to commit to something too... They rarely miss what they aim at... The world record for king cobras is around 21 feet, in Thailand. That means he had over 10 feet of strike range 🤯🤦‍♂️🤯... Imagine trying to get that fker out of a tree... Takes at least 2-3 people to keep him from wrapping around your body...

As you write, King cobras are very intelligent and peaceful, they rarely strike. This snake was actually quite defensive for a King cobra. Usually the rescue takes about 30 seconds. In general, Ajay did not do anything dangerous, this is how you handle a King cobra - peacefully, you read the snake's behavior, give it its space, etc. Of course if you do this with a Black mamba you will get into serious trouble. Every snake species behaves differently.

@@LivingZoology I noticed it was defensive, but it only spun to face him & didn't strike as much as you would expect. That told me it just wanted to get away. The whole tree thing had me worried tho - that's NEVER a good situation... I expected it to come at him after it hit the ground... I told my boss that I would never work with taipans or mambas again. 1 of our mambas went from being tolerant to trying to strike & flash out at us every time someone even slides the door open on her vision cage. It was an overnight change so it's wierd. & I'm NOT about to try to take her out of her cage & make her bite the cup to give us her venom. It isn't worth getting bit when I have 2 kids to raise... 🤦‍♂️🤷🤦‍♂️... NOPE...

It was set well, but the snake did not want to go in. It is a wild animal and does what it wants. Still, this rescue took about 2 minutes to be finished. Usually it is done in 30 seconds.

No, nothing bad happened to the snake. We have seen them falling down from a tree before naturally and it was fine. Snakes are very strong animals.

The bag was properly prepared, just every individual of a snake species behaves differently. In most cases the King cobra goes into the bag in 30 seconds.

@@manuks7871 The way he treats snakes is for show and it stresses snakes a lot. It is disgusting. He lets a cobra regurgitate eggs which it ate, he is playing with snakes for show and gets bitten multiple times. Ajay never got bitten and the snake never tried to bite in this rescue. Simply the fact that Vava gets bitten so often tells you that he is doing things wrong.

It did not bother humans, but it was in the plantation and people were scared that it can come closer to them.

@@LivingZoology Thank you for your response. Its mere presence in the plantation is enough to "bother" the people there to ask for assistance in relocating it. That's what I mean. In other places other than India, thus beautiful animal may have been killed, eaten or both.

King cobras are very shy and bites are super rare. However, if a bite happens, it is a very serious situation. As far as we know there is no antivenom in India so you need to hope for a dry bite.

It is a medical emergency.

You obviously know anything about King cobra population in India. Kings are only in Western Ghats, Eastern Ghats and extreme north of India. They are not common.
