Rescue of the "Nordic Lily" SanLorenzo SL86 Epic!

The "Nordic Lily", a SanLorenzo SL86 motor yacht, was stranded on the beach of Pinedo (Spain) due to a health problem of the owner who had to be hospitalized, the crew was not able to prevent the boat from running aground on Monday 3 June 2024.
On Thursday the 6th and Friday the 7th, an attempt was made to launch it with the help of two tugboats that failed in the operation by pulling it.
On Saturday June 8, with the help of a platform and two backhoes, the boat was managed to float, leaving it anchored in the place where it was stranded for subsequent transfer to port the next day for repairs.
The procedure was to remove the sand using backhoes, making a path, and then pulling the yacht to remove it from the stern, then a tugboat helped finish the work
El "Nordic Lily" un SanLorenzo SL86 yate de motor , quedo varado en la playa de Pinedo (España) debido a un problema de salud del propietario que tuvo que ser hospitalizado, la tripulacion no fue capaz de evitar que el barco encallara el lunes 3 de junio de 2024.
el jueves 6 y el viernes 7 se intento su puesta a flote con la ayuda de dos remolcadores que fracasaron en la operacion tirando de el.
El sabado ocho de junio con la ayuda de una plataforma y dos retroexcavadoras se consiguio poner a flote la embarcacion dejandola anclada en el lugar de su varamiento para su posterior traslado al dia siguiente a puerto para reparaciones.
El procedimiento fue retirar la arena utilizando las retroexcavadoras, haciendo un camino, para posteriormente ir tirando del yate para sacarlo por la popa, después un remolcador ayudo a terminar el trabajo.

Great footage! 👍👍👍 Employing a flat top barge fitted with spud piles and an excavator on top for carrying out the job? Why not! But it is obvious to see how this set is struggling, causing potential harm to person's in the water/waves and to the yacht. I understand that salvage jobs are mostly challenging and hence not cheap. But I see a container vessel in the background on anchor and also a container terminal. Hence, wondering if no harbour tug with a long tow line was available for this task. Any idea?

You sound like you know what you're talking about so I'll ask you the question. Why didn't they have the barge directly behind the yacht? Wouldn't that be a better position, so they could use the weight and leverage of the excavator to move backwards on the barge and wiggle the the yacht out? They had the arm of the excavator perpendicular to the transom. my thought was he would have more power pulling in a direct line. I was waiting for the bald guy in the water to get crushed or the barge to crash into the transom. Luckily neither happened

@@elborrachogrande First of all, though I have a professional background in merchant shipping, but I am not a salvage specialist. The tonnage I deal with professionally is "slightly larger" than the yacht in this video. In my opinion, this salvage attempt is hair-raising on several aspects, especially since, as you mentioned, the person in the water risked his life. Additionally, the barge was not anchored in a particularly reliable manner. In my industry, in such cases, a Lloyds Open Form (salvage contract) is concluded with a professional and experienced towing/salvage company. They typically send a sufficiently sized tug, trying to establish a towing connection to the distressed vessel to stabilize it. A decision is then made on how to lighten the distressed vessel from the land side and when to attempt salvage based on the tidal range, weather, and swell. In the case of the video, a different approach was taken, which I can only understand if the infrastructure and geographical location did not allow any other solution in the short term. However, I noticed a container terminal in the background and wondered why at least a port tug was not requested. But I do not know the situation on the ground. Nevertheless, an excellent video with a good portion of action. 🤓👍

Los barcos no salen mejor por la proa? Es más fácil girarlo y después sacarlo de proa,todo un cúmulo de despropósitos, pero resultado obtenido,un gran reportaje muy interesante Big like amigo 😍😍😍!!!

Thus salvage company needs better educating on how to pull a grounded vessel off the beach . This process is about as dumb as dumb gets and dangerous to boot .
