M.F. Luder Unfortunately, they probably will have other dogs, and treat them just as badly. Have you seen the video of the girl putting her dog in a clothes dryer, and turning the dryer on? After the dog was checked out for injuries, it was given back to the girl, pending charges against her!!!! She doesn’t deserve to have another dog, and neither do the people who abused and ignored Maisy.

I wish they would stop breeding them so much. Also if people aren’t willing to make a lifetime commitment, they really don’t need a pit bull. Our animal shelter always has a huge number of pit bulls, and all the other dogs quickly get adopted. I’m not a huge pit-bull/dog fan, but I adored this one pit bull that was at our local shelter, and I was just so excited when I saw it finally got adopted. It is just always so bad to see more pit bulls continuously coming in to e shelter.

HaZi For all those who run in the opposite direction when they see a pit bull, they obviously have never encountered one without his/her tail being cropped. There is no mistaking the happiness and great disposition of pit bulls who still have their tails!

I totally agree. I had a Staffie called Woobiewoo (the English equivalent of the American Pitbull) and she was the best thing that ever came into my life. I lost her to throat Cancer a little under a year ago, and it was like losing a child, and I'm still grieving even now. She was kind of a rescue dog too, though not actually from a shelter. Basically she belonged to homeless man, and so her situation wasn't great (as he thought more about drugs, than he did about her), so I gave him £20 for her (as he wouldn't let her go for free) and for the next 10 years, she had a great life, and died in my arms, while I cuddled her and told how much I loved her =)

The previous owners calling the dog ugly is wrong I agree with you, they were just mistreating her. However the weakness of the dog is not appearance but in her utility. What value does she bring to the home. It is understandable that she can not be a breeder, but how about at least a protector. It doesnt seem like that either. At the very least can the dog take care of itself, and from the looks she does not and tears up furniture. She can be a very good dog but needs to be disciplined more so she doesnt cause more work for the owner. On the positive side there is very much potential there but the owner has to help the dog to help herself as well.

All jokes aside - truth is dogs can smell fear hormones, sadness hormones, angry Hormones , chemical imbalances, sickness ....you name it they can smell it...if fact your sweat tells them what you had for dinner last night, and they can always smell it if you've been drinking/drugging. Our problem is most of us don't know how to decipher the message our dog is trying to tell us. With proper training (us and them) maybe we can. This dog has realized that her woo wooo woooooing makes her "Mommy" smile and release happy hormones, and she wants to make her "Mommy" happy. I trained my dog to say "I love you" so well - that when I recorded her and took it to work - everybody swore it was my voice . She could also say- "Mama" - very plainly. They know what they are saying. For her real surprise - one morning - after hearing me opening the door every morning and telling the puppies "outside - everybody OUTSIDE" for about a month --- I was laying down with my elbow hanging off the bed - and she came up to me and nudged my elbow with her nose. I told her "Just a minute, Judy, Mama's tired" and - I swear - she said "OUTSIDE" in a gravely tone but clear as heck ! Needless to say - I jumped right up and let her outside !!! I think that Maisy is trying to say sentences !!! Have you seen the dogs on You Tube pushing the buttons on the floor that say words in order to answer the owners questions ? Like - the owner asks the dog - "what do you want?" - and the dog pushes the button that says vocalizes the word "treat". Then they ask it other questions - yes or no answers - dog pushes the right button to answer those questions too.... They know what we are saying ----we just don't know what they are saying ! She needs to get some of those buttons for Maisy. You have to put the response button in the same location every time though, so they don't get tricked up. After all they can't read the word on the button, or tell it's color - that's for our benefit. (Dogs are supposedly color blind, but I don't necessarily believe that, and if true - surely colors would appear as different shades of grey.) But anyway , I think you record your voice into the push button - with the word you want it to stand for. I've got to get some to train my dog, if I can find them ! Just imagine how they could be used !!!! The inventor is going to get rich ! The possibilities are endless ! Now why didn't I think of that ??? Dang. P.S. - Obviously some dogs can smell things better than others (bigger noses = more scent glands).

I live in the country with BLM Land, Up the Canyon at the end of my road. I watch many that take their dogs up to walk/hike. These dogs when they drive by are so happy for this and on the return they are happily exhausted. Its really great to see this. My pets have been strays that were dumped at the Canyon.
