Hello Dennis , this Porsche is a real great find. These very old 356 never look exactly the same. Sometimes they used older parts that they still had on stock. But this makes every early 356 so unique. After the restoration the car will be back in its former glory and will be worth a lot. Enjoy a new piece in your collection. 😊😊😊 Al from Germany.

I owed a silver convertible D back in 1971-1972. I drove it from Minnesota to the west coast to interview for medical residencies. In those days it was no big deal cost wise, $1000 to $1200, and easy to fix. I wish I still had it.

The 356 was the my first Porsche love. My goal of driving a Porsche around the entire US changed after I drive one for an hour. I graduated up through the years and landed in a 991.1, however I still of a spot for the 356 and the earliest 911T. Thanks for opening up that soft spot.

Well, you survived the ice and things are starting to get better. Great find on the 356. I see different old Porsches in my area occasionally but they are rare. Coffee Walk makes my weekend. Good luck and stay safe.

OUTSTANDING FIND. My dad owned a 1958 Speedster new and drove it daily for 15 years. HE sold it in 1973 for $2000. Too bad it's not still in the family. I remember riding under the tonneau as a kid with the rain blowing in.

I had one of these beauties that i bought for $1,000. In 1970. The floor was repaired with roofing felt. If i parked on an incline the door might not open. It was very flexible. I put new mains, rod,and wrist bearings in but it still smoked like a mosquito fogger. I am a Miami native and the D had 156,000 on it wheni bought it. Fun for a few years then moved on to get an air conditioned 280 Z. Love your show.

Nothing more enjoyable than watching you guys navigate the ice. It supposed to be -14 tonight with a wind chill down to -20 below. I bet the ice looks good now.

I love this man's Cobra jacket, i have a red one and a white one that i got back when they were $40 bucks, i also have a 79 mustang indy jacket that is the business, i got it for $2 at a thrift store 20 years ago and have been offered 10x's that but ain't selling it. i love retro racing jackets. The porsche is sweet too, nice addition to the collection.

In about 1978 a friend of mine found a 1956 speedster convertible in a local trash paper for $300. History was, the father bought it for his son to go to collage. The son burned up #3 cylinder. We were all aircraft mechanics, but could not get it running at the sellers house. The car was after dark pulled to another location where the engine was removed. I took the engine apart. Someone had done a poor replacement of #3 cylinder. The engine was cleaned up and coated to prevent rust. I had overhauled many airplane and VW engines. The case was a piece of art. It had brass tubes inserted in all oil passages. The car was set to Ohio for rebuild. Many years later it was sold in NY for over $300,000. It is amazing it was not destroyed. There were many situations where it was almost lost..

Nice score Denis. In the early 70s , my father had a1960 356B , silver with blue leather int. , 1600 dual carb.Unforturnetly he rolled it on the freeway on a diesel spill. Traded it for cash & a 1968 type 3 wagen. Cheers from B.C. Canada.

Fun seeing these old cars. A guy I served with in the Navy bought one in 1971 in Groton Conn. and drove it down to Charleston . His was British Racing Green. I think this body is in better condition.
