Awesome Save, saw your post on reddit and couldn't pass it up. I was wondering how you started ocean guarding, I've been a guard and swim team coach for a few years now and i was considering trying to get an ocean guarding job once i transfer school. I am from California tho so i'm sure our two states do things differently, but any feed back would be helpful.

rip currents can move 8 ft per second, I do not see it here but it can; Okay I see it now and the saver is carrying the correct device

It's pretty simple really...If you see foam gathering in a body of water...Stay the heck away from a da FOAM! Or any where near da foam.

It seems to me the guards we're stuck in the undercurrent area longer than I would expect. After making contact, why not move parrallel to the beach quicker to get outside the undercurrent area?

wjatube rip currents aren't undercurrents..

The guards know the area and conditions better than you do

esses salva-vidas só podem ser principiantes, sem nenhuma experiência, deveriam sair pelos lados, onde não havia correnteza e nem ondas.

Big rip but curious why the guard with the buoy wasn't porpoising through the surf line? I've never seen a guard take such a leisurely swim out to a victim and I was an ocean guard for over a decade.

If I had to guess it was probably because the victims were on boogie boards and not actively drowning.

I'm trying to tell what's going on and I can't tell a thing lol. It doesn't even look like they're stuck and they're not very far out

Butter Kitchen an unexperienced swimmer fighting those waves gets fatigued very quickly and then panic starts to kick in..
@heyborttheeditor16086 жыл бұрын
E2 M5 since it's the ocean couldn't you just inflate yourself (u know like breathe as much air in) and float on your back. I can float for hours in the ocean cus of the salt.

Butter Kitchen the thing about panic is that it blocks your mind from thinking reasonably. Thats why they say "dont panic", but its easier said than done.

The sea going back out is faster in that spot it can be faster than you can swim so you will tire out while getting no closer to the beach then you just drift further out due to being too tired to swim.
