With all these new Terminator models hitting the market I wanted to look into the state of the older versions on eBay. Are they worth picking up right now? I also haven't actually ever painted one, so I decided this would be a great time to get out a set of Space Marine Hero Termis and give them the help they deserve!

Building up the height of the base on older terminator models really helps with the scale/proportion difference of other newer models. Because you are mostly looking down on the models they fit much better and it makes them look way cooler too

Anything older than these ones and you definitely need to build up that base. I like that though because it makes them look even better when they have cool tall bases. The older ones will still see play if Terminators are any good, new bases, fresh paint jobs, it's gonna be a good time!

@@TheIronFourth Because originally they were made of metal and during that time kids were stupidly eating them cuz toys back then were made of metal So they changed it to plastic

@@eBayMiniatureRescues i play Blood Angels, so I'm sided as opinion about, but I love my 3 set of those miniatures (yes... Although GW said it has broken the masters and not publishing more, I bought every later release of that box^^) Notice that I love those SH BA as much as I loath the dedicated BA terminators sold aside as dedicated set (they are awful)

There will be a ton of boxes on ebay, but at the same time, there are tons of boxes in stores right now too. It's feeling like the Dominion box for AOS, just a massive amount floating around out there. Scalpers probably won't be making a ton on these I think.

Nice video:) just a thing I do. Before hitting the mini with a sepia wash I dump the hole mini in a fresh cub of water to pre wet the model. After that I take out the wash. The wet surfsce helps the wash flow realy nice into the recesses and cracks and prevents pooling on flat surfaces. Just shake the model a bit after dumping it in the water so it is not so wet anymore this is important

@eBayMiniatureRescues bit of a strange idea, and at the time, I didn't know if you bought a whole box,you could get them all. they also did a paint set that had a standard bearer that I think was only available in Japan.

What sonic cleaner and cleaning solution do you use?

I like the character of these older models more than the ones in Leviathan. I like the old Dreadnaughts better too for that matter.

These ones in particular are nice because they are all different. I have hopes for a multipart kit though, they are essentially the same models as the ones in Leviathan, but since those are kind of standard they don't look as good as these ones. Same size and scale though, so we'll see

The red on the gun casing looks really nice. What is that colour called?

The red is actually an Army Painter air paint called chaotic red. I thought I was grabbing red speed paint but it ended up being the air paint by mistake. It's a nice dark purple-red, washed down with Tamiya black, and highlighted with pure red. Not a bad combo for that deep red!

What solution do you use in your cleaner, or do you have a video about it already?

Personally, I use a concentrated degreaser called LA's Totally Awesome. It's cheap and safe, and works incredibly well. But if you don't live in the US it's hard to find. Any concentrated degreaser will work though, especially in a sonic cleaner.

Have you tried Olive flesh from Monument hobbies? I have been seeing people use it as a highlight for death wing terminators, and it somehow works. They also have mahogany if you want to start with a brown, could you can go from Brown to yellow ochre? They just added dark ivory to their range, so now they have dark ivory, ivory, bright ivory and olive flesh. And believe it or not monument hobbies now has three washes, which include a black wash, flush, wash, and a brown wash which seems to be the least liked. Probably better off sticking with games workshop with the washes and contrast paints over their ivory and less you use their glaze and wash medium to create your own custom wash from their paint range

I haven't played around with olive flesh yet, though I do have it. I ended up going all in on monument hobbies paints a couple of months ago, they are great all around mini paints! I haven't tried the washes though, I still use GW washes because I know how they are going to go down to get what I'm after, someday though. For this video I used the army painter air paints, the triad they have for bone is pretty nice right out of the bottle so I can't complain about that.

@@eBayMiniatureRescues I have about 8 Army Painter Air Triads, but I haven't' tried them yet. I\you dont happen to have a cordless compressor with a .3 Airbrush? I've been wanting to try them straight out of the bottlearound 18-20 PSI. I also have a Patriot 105 with a .5 Needle attacherd to a NO-NAME COOL TOOTY with a Tank to hold extra Air which is my main setup. I've been told the Pro Acryl Paints can be Airbrushed out of a .5 Needle with no thinning. Although I tend to shoot some Flow Improver through the Airbrush before I start painting. Right now I I want to use the Army Painter Air paintsbased on the Dark Angels Companies. the Deathwing has a Light Brown Base, Skeleton White and Bleached Bone. Just an FYI Monoument Hobby's premade Black Wash is not the same as the new Nuln Oil., If you apply it normally it tints the surface. If you add their 4 parts Wash Medium, 4 Parts water and add some black wash it will settle more in the recesses. Artis Opus said it was the best black wash and it reminded him of GW's black wash before Nuln Oil.

Part of me is considering waiting a while, then, to score the Tyranids from this set so I can try painting those up in a more Giger-inspired scheme. Because really, aren't 'Nids the Xenomorphs of the 40K universe?

Up those base sizes and put them on some cork and you're good to go! I do like those older ones though, the heft of the metal is satisfying.

That's always a good idea if you end up selling a mini, they almost always go for more if they have a decent paintjob on them.

In all honesty, I do wish more people would come forward, just to give a little more context to the story of their models. I certainly don't want to say anything mean, I have plenty of models that would be worthy of stripping and repainting myself, but knowing when someone painted something and what their thoughts were behind it would make for a far better story surrounding most of the models I get. So far, in 5 years, only one person has ever said anything and I made a whole video about it because he did. so I do hope for more of that :)

Minor criticism, but I prefer to see bolter barrels drilled out. It ruins the look of a model somewhat to see that flat plastic barrel.

Never use super glue on plastic models. The bond is too brittle. Use plastic cement like Tamiya Extra Thin or Revell Contacta - they are the best quality.

For a rescue project the use of super glue is great. Immerse the plastic model overnight in bio strip. It takes 99% of the paint off and also eats all the super glue. Means you can repose and kit bash. You cannot do that if plastic glue was used.

Yes, use superglue on plastic models it has great strength and if your model falls ..it will break at the joint part and not shatter your plastic ...I have over 2000 fw and gw models all built with it .... Including part of my warlord titan and my mastodon ...

I often use plastic glue, tamiya thin is great, but I've used super glue for tons of models and unless I drop them multiple times it's usually fine. These are push fit, so not much is needed to keep them together anyhow.

I deliberately use super glue sometimes...it seems alot easier than magnetizing , especially when I'm not sure I'll ever need to switch weapons on a marine...pops off cleanly , takes 5 seconds for the new one to be good to go..
