Physical and mental health are closely related to how connected we are to others. Loneliness, that feeling of not being connected, is often associated with poorer health. Dr. Martin Paulus, Scientific Director and President of the Laureate Institute for Brain Research and Chair of the ADAA’s Scientific Council talks about how the brain is “wired for connections”, and why the current pandemic may be influencing our mental health. He discusses ways to focus on “connectedness” as a way to improve mental health.
