I seriously LOVE that they used all the old sound effects and kept the pixelated aesthetic but have things like real-time shadows!!! This is EXACTLY how I imagined these games when I was playing them for the first time... AND I love the way they add little details like the zombies out the window and NO LOADING BETWEEN EVERY DOOR, plus staircase interactions! SO COOL!!!

When I was in high school, I used graph paper to recreate the maps from every area in the OG RE game. Mostly from memory lol. I had to check the walkthrough maps in a few spots lol. Man! That was a nice little walk down memory lane.

that this the best part for me. Games never tried o mimic the cgi of the older generation. Only people working by themselves nowadays can without fearing to fail commercially.

What I like the most is that the graphics has a CGI-ish filter to look like the ones from RE from PS1. It is really nice.

Only thing that I feel is missing is that jaggedness of PS1 monster models - you know - rough pixelated textures, amount of polygons you can count on one hand, often warped display of said polygons - that's only thing that's missing here as it looks more like PS1 cutscene. Which is still so frickin awesome, this is just wish for perfection. I mean, they added PS1 disc drive noises in this game just to feel authentic, of course I'm gonna nitpick wanting absolute perfection!

At first I was thinking that this game looks like trash, and then I realized that they're using the original textures and I actually kind of love that, though it'd be even cooler if it used the remake textures too. Also, you definitely have infinite ammo. lmao I kept yelling it every time you were worried about not finding ammo.

This is very well done. The developer/s must be proud of this. What I get worried about making this is making the correct dimensions for each room and hallway so it doesn't feel off for the player.

One thing the dev should do because you're playing as Richard & Rebecca (as it's effectively a prequel) is to make it so the puzzles are set up for Jill & Chris's playthrough instead of repeating 'em.

If they remake 1 again this is the way to go. Was originally gonna be 1st person before fixed camera,a tonne of people have only playede first person RE's and it would help the mansion maintain that sense of claustrophobia. Bonus points if you got to play chris,jill or Chris and Jill which could be an optional coop mode with more enemies and the canon telling of events in game for the first time... I'm just dream-designing now

I was about to say, they made up for the fact that you can't use inventory box by giving you plenty of space in your inventory. My argument is, the inventory box, and limited personal inventory added to the strategy portion of the game.

I would totally be OK with a current gen 1st person RE remake. 1st person RE has grown on me. The ability to fully explore the enviroments we grew up with in full 3d is a dream come true

A lot of iconic games could benefit greatly from a "First Person Remake" , , ,they are doing great with this project ,amazing when fully completed , , , now RE-2 as a FPS would blow my freaking mind , , with PSone cutscenes intact , , , , deeply hope they leak final-games to "Pirate Bay" or similar websites that can't truly be shut down , , , someone was making a RE-2 Remake that was BETTER than Capcom's remake , they screwed up by constantly posting video of it in development , Capcom eventually got involved and shut it down , , , , complete your fan-game first THEN release it on websites , , , 😋😋

The game itself is really well done, major kudos to the developers for that. However, one thing that got me really confused is whether the developers are trying to make a prequel game featuring the BRAVO Team, or if they are going for a reimagining of RE 1 with BRAVO taking ALPHA's place in the story, because right now this game is a weird hybrid of a prequel/reimagining :T

its pretty cool that someone loves the game enough to translate it to unity. that said the inventory and save states are a deal breaker for me. its just a tech demo, wish he would have used unreal engine at least but cool for what it is.

That's so tight I love it; have you played the RE 1, 2, and 3 campaign mods for Left 4 Dead 2? They're faster paced but the mod authors did an amazing job adapting the RE 1-3 games into the Left 4 Dead 2 framework.

I love seeing the pre-rendered background aesthetic shine on 3D here! My only gripe is with the heavy color banding painfully noticeable in many room's walls, maybe it's intentionally bad (faithful to the original lol)? Or may be to do with poor gamma correction and/or brightness since it does look very dark much of the time.

I watched you played this all the way through and I got really upset when you died and had to do it all again because I could feel it in you're heart that it broke you and the pain having to do all that again but this game does have potential and I really enjoy the original resident evil but aside from the bugs and having the tyrant been in that water cage was awesome to see was a bit disappointed that you couldnt get to fight him but they did an impressive job nonetheless I wonder if they will make 2 and 3 that would be cool in first person 🥰

I'd second this, I just found Nightmare of Decay through another channel and got it on Steam. Despite having what I think is kind of a dumb name, the game itself is a really good and well-made take on "First Person PS1-era Resident Evil 1" (with a bit of RE2 Remake style gunplay in how the weapons operate).
