Saying RE was always goofy is a bit of an overstatement. It was more methodical and reserved when it wanted to be. And to be fair bad dubs weren't always intended ala RE1.

I'm now more inclined to believe it was the crazy cinematic action that soured the game for the fans.

It was MUCH better than 7 imo. 7 felt more like a regular horror game than a resident evil game. 8 didn't feel completely residents evil to me either but the story was MUCH better as well as the gameplay and setting. 6 tried to do too many things which is why it wasn't as well received. You can't make the game 90% action and try to sprinkle a little horror into it. Plus the j'avo were annoying to deal with. Enemies having guns already annoyed me in the other games but being constantly gunned down in 6 was a bit much. The combat is fun and I like the story but wasn't a big fan as a whole. It's not the absolute worst RE

@@murasakino101I disagree. Starting with the story: Ethan apparently was killed in 7, so he was just a Molded the whole time in 8. Somehow the BSAA never found this out in roughly three years and he was able to impregnate Mia just fine alongside all the other plotholes that brings. Then there's the matter of, despite being able to control metal, Heisenberg never once tried to make Ethan's weapons shoot him. It's even dumber that he was keeping around metal that he couldn't manipulate and even dumber still that he was building a weapon with it. Chris and his team assaulting the ground zero of the Mold without any special protective coverings despite it being shown that he needed a special rebreather for areas with high concentration in 7. The lycans look like they were literally just taken out of the most recent Wolfman movie. The Moroaicǎ looks like a generic Dark Souls enemy. Some of the Soldat variants look like they just ripped off the Flesh Pound from Killing Floor. Strum's design was ripped off from Frankenstein's Monster. The only good designs that have any of the "Resident Evil" vibe to them are monster Dimitrescu, Moreau and the Baby. The biggest shame is that the source material they drew from had amazing potential when we look at what games like Bloodborne have done with it, but it seems they put in the minimal effort and called it a day. It was indeed a better game than 7, but it's still easily one of the weakest of all the main entries and feels like a disjointed combination of Van Hellsing, Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Evil Within. With none of the originality or cohesiveness of any of the source material. The whole point of six was that it was an action game with horror elements thrown in, but that's like complaining that Halo doesn't work because it has The Flood in it at some points. The combat and encounters are still setup around action gameplay in both cases. Most of the enemy designs in it were good to great on a level the series hasn't achieved since 3 and had a unified design theme (another thing 8 failed horribly at). Other than the godawful Kerrigan ripoff that was Deborah and, arguably, the Whopper/Whopper Supreme. The plot was nicely interwoven between the four campaigns. Though 6 too has a good deal of its own plot holes in that regard. As to address the J'avo being annoying. Learn to time your dodges and know which enemies to dispatch first. The game also gives you stuff like flashbangs in 6 specifically so you can get some breathing room. If you're getting pinballed by J'avo/police zombie gunfire in 6 that's your own fault. The comparison in receptions between 6 and 8 really just cements that people didn't like 6 simply because it was an action game rather than a "bad" one. Not that 6 didn't have its own problems, but they really dropped the ball on 8. I gave 7 some slack because Capcom was playing it safe and not putting a lot of money into the game, but I'm pulling no punches with 8. Don't get me wrong. It's not a bad game, and certainly not a terrible one, but it's not a great one either let alone GotY material.

I honestly wish he would've survived, even kept those cool b.o.w powers and somehow learned to control them or something.

Only when his core has been damaged n leaves him vulnerable. Otherwise just like birkin he is no longer recognizable but thanks to part of the veronica his mutations doesn't go out of control despite having some of the g virus in him. But let's be real the one who had the most humanoid form of all the antagonists was n is wesker n that's not even debatable

I know, just think what would have happened if a Lepotica had shown up at some point. Instant team wipe. It's even worse in 8 when you consider how the Mold functions. Chris and his squad go in with no protector against airborne particulates despite venturing into ground zero for that virus. Which is something 7's DLC did right to its credit.

@@feliperamirez9374 well...I mean back before RE8 was out, there were a few speculations of RE7 Chris actually being Hunk in disguise.

"Agent" wasn't really there - he was added after the game had been out for a bit in order to give Ada's scenario a co-op partner. Her chapter was originally just a bonus, like Separate Ways, locked until the three others were finished.
