After all believe it or not, the demo that released on Playstation+ for me is just for tech demo for their new engine, RE Engine. Tech demo means they just showing the engine capability + also showing the horror that the fans want despite well... they hiring some P.T guys so no wonder it feels like it.

I think people are expecting more of a balance. RE6 pushed the action too far, and RE7 looks to be leaning a little hard on the horror with very little action. At any rate, I might be interested in buying a PS4 now that they've built up a respectable catalogue of games.

I like where this is going. I'm glad they took this approach. Resident Evil needed another reboot because previous games focused too much on action/shooters. They were barely any horror or suspense to it.

Creo que fue de los momentos más épicos de la saga de resident evil, venían del fracaso de el 5 y el 6 donde se perdió el horizonte real de la franquicia, y sacan está joya dónde nosotros la generación de los 90 nos transportamos a lo que era un verdadero survival horror, y con lágrimas en los ojos dijimos esto si es resident evil. 😭

If you watch the gameplay demos with some of the alternative endings you can see a picture of a helicopter with the umbrella Corp symbol on it and a note on the back saying "are they watching us from that helicopter?" Hinting that there is some relation to the older games

I'm not really sure how to feel about this. On one hand, this looks like a pretty solid horror game. On the other hand, this isn't anything even remotely like _Resident Evil_. I'll keep an open mind, but this trailer really gives the impression that the _Resident Evil_ franchise is suffering from a bit of an identity crisis.

This seems like the natural progression for Resident Evil. People were pissed when 4 came out and ditched tank controls and locked perspective for an over the shoulder view, but look at how well that game came out. After 6, I'm just happy that there wasn't a single explosion in this trailer.

Wheelchair guy is Oswell E. Spencer...that's gotta be who's in the wheelchair. The guy who made Wesker the monster he was. RE 5 and 6 were about covering loose ends. Wesker and Simmons dying. Same goes for Revolutions 2, but, from what I recall that hasn't been tied up yet, but Alex Wesker is in Natalia now. The demo and trailer take place in the past and revolves around "The Family" organization Simmons mentioned in RE 6. Sure, RE5 showed Spencer laying dead in his castle, but maybe this will show him before the outbreak events? The beginning is a prologue. It takes place in a Louisiana bayou, or close by. The clues are all here.

The Introspector But there's a prologue isn't there? The wheelchair guy HAS to be Spencer. You compare the images the resemblance is uncanny. If it's not, who knows, but i do know it's going off of what Simmons talked about in RE regarding "The Family" organization, and their secrets. This kinda seems like a downscale compared to past games though, but not certain. If it only takes place in the farmhouse I can't imagine it being a long game. But maybe there's more. I do know the demo is set in the past though, which is separate from the full game and supposedly won't be in it.

V-Way I still think it's related in some way. I looked at more playthroughs of the demo though, and the more i see it, the more im confused. It's an old farm house with experiments being conducted,surgical procedures on wandering victims, and it actually is a haunted house. The real question is, what does a psychotic old farmer have to do with any of it? I still believe they'll build on "The Family" organization since it was mentioned in the last game, because they still need to be taken down to end it all. Besides Alex Wesker being in Natalia's body, and someone in The Family organization, not sure who could be left to take down.

Did people really enjoy RE 5 & 6 that much though? I think with the disappointing action route the series took, this is a welcomed departure. I would argue that this is much more similar to RE 1/2 than 5/ 6, and thats probably a good thing.

Well 5 was a classic (although it had too much action) 6 was just bad, this is a step in the right and wrong direction because they are going back to horror but copying P.T. ain't the way.

5 was good. They improved alot of the game play from 4. The story wasn't as good as 4 but I thought it was well made. 4 is a big game to live up to.

I miss the tank controls, camera angles, simple puzzles but most of all I miss my Jilly 💔😭 But this looks promising.

Yes. No topping 1, 2, 3. I also remember enjoying Code Veronica but not much about the game itself. Those games were about the tension, atmosphere, and the creatures. I miss just sketching creatures from the Prima guides.

I felt the same way when they announced resident evil 6 lol it was a surprise announcement but this was long overdo I was expecting their reveal last year but sadly I think they were trying to get on the vr trend

I hate to jinx it but let's hope we don't hear about it being delayed. Don't get me wrong, I know it pretty much would mean that they're wanting more time to polish it and make it look more visually stunning and such, but they said they've said, and I hope I'm right, that they've said they worked on this thing for 2 years

I too read the report of "Ghost sightings", and honestly, I'm not even mad. There's only so many viruses you can (re)introduce without it just becoming a recycled plot. If this is what allows RE to become true horror again, I'm all for it. Has a Silent Hill vibe to it like others here stated.

Resident Evil is going back to its roots. Its TRUE roots of RE 0, 1-3 and REmake. Not quick time events and giant Napoleon robots like Resident Evil 4, but slow, creepy, and atmospheric. If you want Resident Evil 4 again play the Revelations games. This is for old school Resident Evil fans.
