If you saw werewolves and giant bat creatures or flesh monsters or diseases that alter your very genetic makeup too make you into giant meat slugs or giant skinless gore mechs with too many appendages you wouldn't think "hmm that's strange I don't remember hearing about the new pandemic." you'd probably think "why the fuck are there flesh piles that move and eat people and if they touch you at all you will slowly melt into a flesh pile? Why am I in a resident evil game?" Sure you wouldn't think that at first but when you run into a person who you've never met before and you instinctually call outsider or stranger and you see them kill hordes of beasts on their own without help. You would get an idea that this is a resident evil game and you don't have any backstory and no information is given besides the bare necessities to be considered a character. You also know you won't survive long and will probably die a horrible death in front of the protagonist telling him to go complete his goal or smth.

It could be said that most of the past RE characters had a job with weapons. Leon being a police officer and Chris being is part of many military forces. Ethan just works as an engineer. But I agree, Ethan is probably the most logical one of out the bunch.

Make a story about some guy like Qyburn in game of thrones and you're good to go. A mad king trying to take over the other kingdoms by raising an army of monster thanks to "sorcery" and medecine. Centuries later the umbrella corporation found the scrolls/books of that era which lead to their whole research about bio weapons. Not even that far fetched really.

@@athanasshia I didn't know about that part in the Wolfenstein universe, haven't followed it that much tbh. I've always found the RE series to have some weird mystical vibe when it came to puzzles, they always seem to involve something more than just advanced mechanisms. After playing the village demo I was getting some strong Bloodborne vibe and judging by the evil characters that have succeeded themselves in RE I wouldn't be surprised to hear that adoration to the great ones has been part of the lore.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ethan turned into a baby squid in the hands of Mother M̶i̶a̶ Miranda.
