No idea who has the rights for this movies franchise but this needs to be rebooted by a proper director with a decent budget. Something awesome could be done with this.

They're not the best movies, and the new games arent my favorites, but I still enjoy them and have fun. The Gamecube remake for RE1 is my all time fav RE.

apparently they are not gna have Chris or Claire, its going to open with Alice fighting umbrella on the tanker just after Chris Claire and Kmart have been kidnapped by umbrella.....theyre apparently focusing more on Jill, Ada, Leon and Barry (all characters from the awesome games)
