I mean to be fair welcome to raccoon did that but they tried fitting the event of both1 and 2 in the same movie and have them run the same time when they were at least weeks apart

Netflix series was garbage. At least that last movie made somewhat of an attempt to follow the game😅. All hollyweird had to do was follow the bloody game script. The blueprint is right there. I just hope this prequel movie does the Resident Evil franchise right, and maybe going forward will open a few more movies. At least the games are good. That is the main thing.

@@ROEnetwork it so frustrating. They only are faithful to surface levels stuff like the look of locations, and characters from the games. But the character don’t look or act like the characters we know. Don’t get me started on the story. I think it is possible to do a long form resident evil series that takes multiple stories adapted from the games and novels. With the raccoon city destruction arc taking multiple seasons, followed by the fall of umbrella arc which would include stories from various spin-off games and novels, leading into the age of bio terror arc which would cover RE4-RE8 and the stories spun out from that. I could see several seasons of a show like that. I just don’t know why we cant just get a proper RE adaptation. Instead we keep getting generic-post apocalyptic zombie show and a prequel to a terrible movie adaptation chimera of RE1&2 They only thing remotely RE is content made from you guys.

The reason they are doing another movie in the first place is to renew those rights. Which means constantin films doesn't want to let go of the RE film rights. If they don't make an RE film within the span of their agreed upon contract (don't know how many years), they lose the rights. So unless Constantin Films willingly lets the RE film rights go or they sell it then the movies won't stop. We can only hope that they actually learn from their mistakes and just make a good adaptation.

@@haromass1 with the way they're treating the RE films, seems like they actually don't. It's not like fans all over the world haven't been screaming their lungs out to finally have a decent adaptation of one of the most popular video games that pioneered the survival horror genre.

@@castlemein5765 I was guessing 5 years, basing off of the difference between The Final Chapter (2016) and WTRC (2021), and it's also pretty much a reasonable standard of time with most IPs in general. They are never letting go of RE.

it makes me wonder now. does this also applied to other movies novel adaptation? namely; The Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, Narnia, The Twilight, World War Z, War of The World, etc. does all movies also never stick to the original story of their books?

RE1 didn't focus on Rebecca, and Wesker was MIA the whole time, so no flashbacks.

@@andrewmelvinpotter Rebecca still appeared and had an important role if you played as Chris and concerning Wesker, we are talking about a potential TV series, solo scenes of Wesker (and at least one where he blackmail Barry into helping him with his dirty work) are a possibility.

Well none of these people who makes these movies actually ever played any of these games they are not hardcore fans because at the end of the day they wouldn't know what fans of the series would want. And it's sure not hell matching two story lines together that don't make any sense and then changing characters personalities that was never in the game to begin with in sprinkle in relationships in the game that never happened. but visually it was pretty at least that's one thing going for it

@@samd5350 exactly. It did look good I admit I like the style but they really messed up the casting and the characters and mashing RE and RE2 together makes no sense and they proved they couldn’t do either story justice.

Welcome to Raccoon City was just too ambitious and let's not even talk about "Leon". Not to mention trying to shove how badass "Claire" is down our throats. Honestly the first RE film I fell asleep while watching

@@TheHmoobkey My thing is when you change the embodiment of a character that's already been written and you got fans who know that character's ins and outs. I know people was getting upset about the ethnicity of the characters that they changed personally I don't care about that but I care more about the character that they are trying to portray in the movie or film when you change that personality to the point that it's not even the same character that you're looking at then that's a problem in that movie they changed scenarios they changed characters personalities they changed everything that made resident evil awesome. just like Claire wasn't a badass she was just looking for her brother in the game she didn't become a badass until later on but in the second game she was just a girl looking for a long lost brother and would do anything to find him even though when she got into raccoon City she didn't know what that entails. she wasn't there for a different mission like the movie betrayed that didn't make any sense.

to be fair, they were at least better with resident evil than anything else.. i mean it was a low fucking bar but still

HBO only wants complex stories with depthful characters, unfortunately Resident Evil never did that well, especially the original games, the characters were caricatures, i don't think HBO execs would look at RE games and think it to be interesting like The Last of Us, which was a very character driven game.

The only Resident evil movies true to the games are the animated RE movies

The Last of Us is very easy to adapt because it's a character driven game that is richly written, Resident Evil is a mess writing and character wise, no wonder studios try to add a lot to it since it doesn't have enough substance.

Well The Last of Us series took some liberties and screwed up some parts of the games. Especially the part with Bill. So no that crappy series has also it's flaws. I think The Last of Us is very overestimated.

While the Fallout Amazon series is more of an extension of the video game universe, rather than an adaptation of an established game, it has expertly woven those past games into the streaming series. This is where the CG animated RE movies succeeded. I would love to see a series like that instead of these reimaginings of the games that Constantin is making.

Good question, I'm not sure really. The Milla Jovovich movies did this as a kind of post script to the games, the Netflix series also went post apocalyptic.. now again .. sigh ..

I get what you're saying, problem is, in reality, being stuck in a mansion and the underground facilities would only take place in a matter of hours, so unless you do it like the '24' tv series, I don't see how it would work. Unless there's a whole story that takes place before the mansion incident and leave the last 2/3 episodes for the mansion/underground incident.

They could try that to be fair, actually do some character building at the RPD for the first episode (that’s true to the canon, rather than what they shamelessly did to Leon). They could introduce some characters only seen in Outbreak for example. Then bravo team leave to go investigate. Could end the first episode finding out that there was no response from bravo team. Then do a couple of episodes of Alpha experiencing the mansion without finding anyone alive from bravo until they eventually find Rebecca, then 2/3 more about the events of Zero, then back to finish the events of Remake in the final few. You could easily fill 10 45 minutes episodes if they could be bothered to give anything the depth of story it deserves, rather than treating it like an action movie for action movie fans. It should be legit terrifying, rather than what was essentially comedy segments in both WTRC and the Netflix series.

Well from what i've heard, the next live-action movie will be indeed a RE0 adaptation but would act as a complete reboot apart from Welcome to Raccoon City. They will try to really make it faithful to the game and if the movie is profitable enough they will make straight up adaptations of RE1, RE2 ect...

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking too while listening to JJ describe the new show. It sounds almost exactly like the 2022 Netflix series...just swapping out Wesker's daughter for Marcus'. It's like they learned absolutely nothing. I can't say I'm excited for it. It's probably going to be just as terrible as the 2022 show was.
