After severe storms dumped large amounts of rain across the region this past winter, the wash filled up with enough water to create a flowing river, and since then, people have flocked to the area.

The land is owned by the city, not the residence. Therefore people have the right to go there. There’s just not very many places around free people to get away and enjoy yourselves. However, they should be cleaning up after their self. That’s disgusting..

I already told my Mom and gf who lives in the San Fernando Valley that I can't risk my life to visit them anymore, and they need to make a decision soon to leave California in general. I made my move out of So. Cal last year, and I'm Idaho bound next month. So, Salt Lake City would be the nearest city to fly into if they want to visit me via flying Southwest Airlines, or if my gf decides to move with me up there.

There is.a gate further up where the road becomes private. The visitors are parking before the gate, where it is still city maintained road, but the city fails to enforce the no parking signs because they can't agree on whose jurisdiction it is.
@rickg882

Wasn't the Adventure Pass still enforced? I think it was about $30 per yr or $5 per day, that would clear the area up,

Well if you know the history of oro vista people has been going there since forever I use to go there 25 years ago way before the new homes were built!!! 🤷🏻‍♂️
@TSR5000
@TSR5000 Жыл бұрын
Maybe you don't know the history that well. All those homes have been there since the 1950's. The wash itself has changed course numerous times over the decades, and none of this crowd had gathered here before this last storm shifted its course to flow over the road. It doesn't help that people have been building improvised dams to further divert the water toward their campsites, instead of allowing it to flow under the bridge where it naturally would.
@timothya.olmeda7299
@timothya.olmeda7299 Жыл бұрын
@@TSR5000 Wrong. The area that they are referring to in the video is the entrance to Riverwood Ranch. Behind the camera is a small neighborhood of homes that was built more recently. Any time the wash has a good amount of water flowing (which has been rare over the decades) it has always brought in a higher volume of people.
@TSR5000
@TSR5000 Жыл бұрын
@@timothya.olmeda7299 I know that. My point is that the new homes he refers to have nothing to do with this. The ranch was there well before this current road was built, it used be a bridge before that was washed away, but he makes it sound like this is a case of new home development sticking its nose where it doesn't belong. The entire reason this road exists is so that residents can access their homes, but that's not possible with cars parking on and blocking traffic along the road.

Imagine having so little positive going on in your life and so little idea of what is good and what is nasty that you drive to an overcrowded, trash-filled dirty storm water run-off area (basically a giant ditch on the side of a road) to "party and swim".

There is a city park less than a quarter mile away with tons of designated parking. Imagine actually walking a short distance to the water instead of parking illegally and blocking traffic. This isn't about restricting access to the wash. The visitors are just lazy, slovenly and inconsiderate.

@@ramonalfaro3252 Oh, look it's a laughing crying emoji spam. We're dealing with a smart one here. Either way somebody was on every piece of land before you, so get out of here with that "Native Indigenous" cry of entitlement.
