These are gorgeous and the glitter used is SOOOO pretty! You don't happen to crochet or know someone who does, do you? Cause I have questions! lol How nicely do these crochet? Do they squeak with acrylic yarn? How consistent is their sizing with other hooks? I've been eyeing molds like this for myself, but I can't bring myself to take the plunge because I crochet, and for every reason I'd love my very own custom hooks, I have ten for why I'd be upset if they weren't at least consistent with other basic hooks. Thanks for answering, if you do, I'm sorry if my billion questions are annoying!

Hi Roseann great question. These particular molds have the little support leg like things across the bottom in several spots. If they are on a flat surface they stay up really well as long as you don’t bump into wherever you put them. I put these on that 1x6 board and then put it on a shelf out of the way.

Thank you for showing this I have a heck of a time getting the air bubbles from the hook I love making them but get so mad each time. My resin is a thicker style so not a runny one may have to change a bit. You didn’t show your sanding them down and hat do you use? I have many different grit but wanted to see someone else do theirs. Ps LOVE this colour
@backcountrycustomcreations448
@backcountrycustomcreations448 Жыл бұрын
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Counter Culture DIY has an amazing thin viscosity Artist resin. It is perfect for molds. All you have to do to release the air bubbles is use a pipette tip or toothpick. Makes doing anything with molds so much easier. For sanding I use 60, 80, and 120 grit, sometimes I even go to 220. The sanding just depends on how rough the piece is. I both sand by hand and use my dremel tool.

It’s the thickness of which they are. The thicker the pour the longer they need to cure. Some resin gets hard faster than others. A casting resin would work really well too.

Ty so much for your tutorials on making resin crochet hooks. Can you tell me what brand of resin you use. I am new to resin. My hooks are bendy and will not harden. I think it's the brand. Any help will be appreciated. 🧶
@backcountrycustomcreations448
@backcountrycustomcreations448 3 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome. I prefer Counter Culture DIY resin. They have both artists resin and casting resin. I generally use the original artist resin because I do other things with resin as well. They have small bottles so you can order a couple different ones to see which you like better. Remember when pouring resin in molds it will take a little longer to harden than usual. Especially with the crochet hooks because there isn’t much open space on the molds. I generally don’t take mine out of the mold for 24-48 hours. Then it can still take a couple more days to finish getting hard and most epoxy isn’t fully cured for 30 days. Also if you want to try UV Resin I have a preorder on my site now for 200g bottles $20. www.backcountryglitter.com/products/uv-curable-resin

Were they on a flat level surface? If they were and nothing was bumped into it could be the resin, but I don’t think that is it. It sounds more like the mold just wasn’t laying completely straight while curing. I would definitely try again and maybe place on a different surface area.

Hi Dianara, Sorry I’m just seeing your comment. My 3mm is very tiny and I feel that if you caught it in thread or small yarn it may break.
