Resin Pet Tags from Molds Using 1:1 Epoxy Resin and UV Resin

I made a few epoxy resin pet tags turned into keychains!
I used many supplies including (but not limited to) 1:1 epoxy resin, UV resin, various mica powders, various resin pigment inks, Cricut machine and vinyl, and stickers.
This was my first time making resin pet tags and I mixed way too much epoxy resin. I ended up pouring the excess in other molds I had around.

Hello and thanks for the interesting video! Can you please let me know how many ml of resin do you need for one bone mold? Thank you!

Hi, and thank you for the kind words! The smaller bone mold would hold about 6ml of resin. I can't find my larger bone mold, so I'm unable to give an exact measurement, but I'd guess it uses twice as much resin (maybe 12ml?). If I find the larger bone mold, I'll reply again with exact measurements.

Great video thanks for sharing. Sorry for the newbie question but what is the difference between acrylic dog tags and the resin ones you created? Thanks :)

Hi Amelia! It's not a noob question at all. It's actually a great one many don't think to ask! Short answer: It's all plastic in the end. Long, wordy answer: The type of acrylic used makes a difference if you want to laser engrave over the dog tag. Epoxy resin and acrylic resin consist of chemicals that may emit harmful fumes and particles when excessive heat is applied. Even though I do resin crafts and laser engraving in my garage with the doors opened, I don't want to take any risks involving my health. That's why I used vinyl for adding names to these tags instead of using my laser machine to engrave the names. Cast acrylic, on the other hand, is considered safe(r). That's why you may see machines in pet stores and theme parks with acrylic tags pre-loaded and ready for a custom engraving. But you may also notice that they're usually metal tags that's available in those machines. I hope this answered your question well.

Your tags turned out really nice. I can't get the UV to NOT be tacky no matter what I try. So frustrating.

Thank you for the kind words! I sometimes have a tacky problem. Try using thin layers of UV resin and cure with the UV light longer in between each layer. It'll often be tacky when using a thick, solid color mold like the ones I used, so continue to use the UV light after you demold the pieces. A viewer told me the brand UV resin also matters when dealing with tacky pieces, so I'll try a new brand after I finish this DecorRom brand. I hope this helps.

Si je n’ai pas de machine à imprimer les noms , est-ce que je peux peindre avec une peinture acrylique le nom directement sur la résine et lorsque la peinture serait sèche j’ajouterais une couche de résine transparente Est-ce que cela pourrait se faire ?

I hope I got the right translation for your questions... Yes, you can use acrylic paint for the name. Allow it to dry completely before adding another layer of resin.

I've been wondering if you can use UV resin and 2 part resin together like that. thank you for confirming. Great video!! where did you get those little pour cups and can you tell me what kind of UV resin you used? TY :-)

Hi! DecorRom UV Resin! I also wasn't sure if using 2 part epoxy resin and UV resin would work together. These tags are still holding strong, but I've heard you can't use it the other way around (2part over UV). Haven't tested that out yet...

What UV resin do you use?

Hi! I used 2 different resins. For most of it, I used a 2 part 1:1 ratio epoxy resin from "The Epoxy Resin Store" through Amazon; the premium product. I later domed the tops of the tags with "DecorRom UV Resin".

What is the font milo and the size

Hi! The font is called "Ink Free," a free font for personal use I downloaded from Dafont.com. I don't recall the font size. In the Cricut Design Space where I setup the names for cutting, I resized it to under 1 inch in height to fit on the tag's surface.
