BRO, you Sir are the man. Clear and concise instructions. I leaned my phone with your video against the bike as I followed..step by step of your instructions. Perfect! Thank you very much for taking the time to make the video and sharing your knowledge.

This gentlemen saved me a few hundred dollars. My bike had lost its resistance. I tried to fix it before I watched his video and could not. The key for me was around the 6 minute mark of this video. Thank you sir!!!

If you are not already a college professor, you should be. This was AMAZING! Thank you so much. I followed the instructions step by step and my 170 now has resistance again. You not only increased my confidence that I could fix this, you’ve also improved my health by providing me with a working bike again!

I haven't tried to fix mine (a Schwinn 170) yet, but I just wanted to thank you for one of the clearest, best filmed repair tutorials I've ever watched. Tomorrow I will attempt the fix, but for now, your video has given me the hope and inspiration I need. Thank you.

Thanks. Great instructions. I managed to do it all without taking off the pedals, so didn't need to buy that puller.

Absolutely brilliant video - it helped enormously. We bought the crank pulling tool and have successfully mended our bike. We’d given up on it as we couldn’t find anyone to repair it for us so were going to scrap it. Now we have a perfectly running Schwinn 170 bike again. We can’t thank you enough 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Excellent!! Clear instruction, good camera work. Fortunately, this was exactly my model. Your instructions and filming of the tricky step of adjusting the servo motor was especially helpful.

Thank you so much for making this video. I would have had absolutely no clue what was wrong. In case anyone else reads this, you can adjust it without that pedal tool. The casing opens up more than enough to work in. The screw you turn is a blue tiny one made of plastic

Thank you so much for the video. We’ve been putting off fixing the resistance problem for over a year now. I came across your video and it helped us step by step. The only thing I could not get open was the crank pedal. It was stuck in there good that I gave up. I forced my hand in the half open housing and worked my Phillips screwdriver. It worked. Thank you for the patient explanation. Love the video.

No need to open the crank pedal. Just the top and left side shroud. Enough space from top to work.

Thank you so much for making this video! If I had found this video earlier I wouldn't have thrown away our last Schwin. Your description was excellent. We followed it, and it worked. Some of the comments also helped....I didn't need to remove the pedal to get to the motor.

Thanks for sharing, I fixed my schwin 170, without removing the axle. If you keep the left pedal upright, you will have enough room to slide plastic panel into pedal and work on motor.

Your video was perfect and also works for the Nautilus U616 and U617 Exercise bikes- they use the same magnet system and your video was spot on for the Nautilus bikes as well. Excellent presentation and a reliable fix. Great job!

😊 thanks so much for your hard work. I did exactly as you instructed and it worked that well. I tried to get a mechanic to look at it but he wanted $139 to come out and then would charge by the hour plus parts if needed. You are very talented and are good with your words. Thanks again and merry Christmas.

Something to try first. Unplug the bike at the bottom front each time when finished. First, before riding, plug the bike in (there is a couple second delay and then you’ll hear the motor moving the magnets for 12 seconds). Second, press the green Quick Start button (again a few second delay and then you’ll hear the motor for 10 seconds). Third, I press the 15 resistance button (the motor will run for 5 seconds). Then I start pedaling. I have a Schwinn 170. This has worked for a couple months. Thanks for your video. I’ll know what to do when unplugging doesn’t work anymore.

Oh my god, I did it and I'm not at all mechanically inclined! I bought the Oumers tool, but it didn't fit. Didn't look like there were sizes listed on the packaging, though. I saw that someone else was able to fix their bike without removing the pedal, and I gave it a try. It was slightly challenging to work around the pedal and housing, but in the end I resolved the problem. Thank you for your amazing video and guidance!

I also have a 130, but I don't see how to remove the pedals. Mine doesn't have a bolt or anything just rounded metal. Did you remove yours or work around that somehow?
@ryankoepke69876 ай бұрын
@@Icza no need to. Just take the screws out of the upper shrowd and maneuver the plastic piece up the metal rod. Don't need to take pedals off

This was a staggeringly useful video. If I run into you in a pub sometime, I will buy you numerous beverages of your choice. (I did chuckle at "you have to lean into it a bit" regarding getting the initial lever arm bolt off - that was a bit of an understatement, I went through 3 successive drills, a cordless, my corded Makita hammer drill (which almost caught fire), and then a pneumatic impact gun, none of which could crack that bolt. I had to resort to tool abuse (big length of pipe over a socket wrench handle) to crack it. Smooth sailing after that though.) The nifty crank arm tool was also a bit of a workout, but nothing like getting that first bolt out.

Very helpful. I was able to reach the white screw from the other side without removing the motor. Nice heads up with that tool also. Yes, $12 and change from amazon. I havea Schwin 170. maybe that's the difference in reaching the white screw.. UI think the repair shops want $250 to fix this. I wonder why it became unadjusted.

Well, I'm not entirely sure why that works - the set screw wound up about where it was before I adjusted it, but it worked like a charm. Maybe repositioning of set screw forces a recalibration? Anyway, thank you!

Hi, my 130 is making so clicking noise. Upon inspection, I noticed that there is some play in the pully shaft assembly (bottom bracket). I think the bearings might be wearing out. Nautilus equipment (who makes these bikes) only sells the entire crank assembly. But I can likely fix this by only replacing the bearings. I managed to find some exercise bike bearings online which looks similar to the those in the picture in the manual. Do you know bearings are universal in exercise bikes? Do you know what size are they?

How does turning the screw on the back change the black nob on the front? I can't get mine forward enough???
@edgeviolin10 ай бұрын
Not sure exactly how it works. Probably a reostat, but it seems to control how far the black knob moves when activated. Experiment with turning the screw more than I suggested and see if that helps. If not, you may have a faulty motor assembly which I suspect can be replaced.

I have adjusted my bike as shown. It's worked great for a long time. Now the issue is that the servo motor runs without stopping. The magnets move up and down without stopping once I press the resistance button on the console. Any ideas on what causes this? A bad switch on the console maybe?
@KingCommander10009 ай бұрын
I seem to have the same problem... it's like it has a mind of its own...and my magnets actually hit the flywheel and grind on it. Just bought this used so I'll.tske apart and have a look at this issue first.

That happened to me as I was fixing my bike initially. I had to turn down the rheostat screw counterclockwise a bit to get it to stop going insane.

Worked without having to remove the pedal. Was not able to get the pedal out in spite of using the suggested part due to tightness
@Joseph1NJ29 күн бұрын
Curious, is it still working? Thank you.
@edgeviolinКүн бұрын
Yes, it is still working, though I have noticed a little variation from time to time as to how many clicks it takes to get it to the right tension. If it stops working I will do it again and then put a spot of some kind of adhesive on the rheostat so it won't shift. I assume that the set screw moves slightly over time due to vibration of the bike when pedaling.
