skull knight has many names like: Captain calcium,knight of Skelton,mr berserker,skull daddy and king gaiseric.

Skull Knight is the most badass character in manga, seeing him just bursting into the Eclipse, attacking Void, killing a bunch of apostles, avoiding an attack by Femto, then throwing Guts & Casca on the back of his horse and hauling ass out of there, such a boss.

I love the Skull Knight. He is the perfect cautionary story for Guts - a shambling warning of what he may become if he submits to the darkness in the heart of the berserker. As a former educator, I actually took inspiration from Skull Knight when talking to my students and working with those whose rage and trauma echoed my own. I wanted to make sure that my students didn't make similar mistakes to my own and for them to fully understand what rage unmanaged can lead oneself to: ruin.

It's pretty obvious now that he's Gaiseric and Void was his version of griffith who branded his woman, caused the fall of his kingdom etc. I'm not sure why people think he isn't Gaiseric especially since the last few chapters of the manga show events of his past

Skull Knights is such an iconic character, his aura of mystery is so interesting and well made I'm not even sure i would have liked to know his full story. On a lighter note, his interactions with Luca are pure gold, he also kind of reminds me of the nonexistent knight: an amalgamation of knightly sentiments that give life to an empty armour.

Such a cool character.. he’s like the personification of Miura/the reader, jumping in to give heed to guts, cutting through layers of reality. Thinking about it… Radahn (and Leonard) is like a loose homage to Skull Knight.

Skull Knight knows Guts for he has seen himself through him. He knows what he's going through because he's lived through his own eclipse. Now, he has his own reasons for wanting revenge, but I wonder, from his travels, would his path of vengeance cease an even greater threat? Either way, we do have an AWESOME reminder and survivor of what someone living through that hell can do to a man...other than Guts.

Don’t know if anyone has pointed this out before but the four being with void could be the four elemental kings, so from left to right - Frost giant would be air, sun disc is fire, mollusk sea creature looking thing is water and the fertility goddess would be earth. What if when making the sacrifice the idea of evil used it as an opportunity to supplant the natural order and introduce its own avatar through Void in a Fantasia style event, and then has been building up to Griffith by creating causality

I was bouncing around in my head the other day that maybe Skull Daddy isn't on a mission to destroy the Godhand per say, but rather to destroy the Idea of Evil - the creator of causality itself. doing that is the only thing that'll break the cycle after all

I find it interesting how Guts lost his right eye like Skull Knight’s presumed Queen did. Casca’s mind was shattered and lost and Skull Knight’s existence is shattered and now only a small part of him. A grudge remains. Like how Casca only had her fear and childish behaviors after her and Guts’ eclipse

I liked your point about how hes in no means a main character. But when hes present, he is the main character to Guts.

I think Skull Knight is like if Guts became an Apostle, something that is not yet out of the question. A supernaturally strong human who is suddenly granted Apostle powers but through sheer force of will rebels against the Godhand. Maybe Flora helped him do this somehow. He's a walking cautionary tale for Guts, and he protects Guts whenever he can, probably because he knows that Guts's breaking will lead to the swordsman becoming like him, as some other commenters have noted.

My personal theory is that i believe that just how humanity's fear and emotions form into the idea of evil and other fantasy stuff in berserk skull knight is his vengeance given form. Its facilitated by the berserker armour which essentially acts like an amplifier and at the end of his life his vengeance and darkness was so much that it gave birth to skull knight. Him saving that woman is also not related to just saving women in general, i think its related to him not wanting other people to lose their lover like he did. The woman whose name i cant recall rn was in a relationship with the soldier dude. This also relates to the thing with overcoming trauma in berserk because since its vengeance that gave birth to skull knight he became bound by causality itself and is bound to play into it and repeat the cycles to say in a way, because his he cant exist without hia vengeance and it wouls kinda prevent him from existing if he ever succeeded in his goal of killing the god hand. He cant basically over come his trauma and his bound to fall into the toxic cycle itself which in berserk universe would be causality principle.

I would Dub Skull Knight's Archetype as a "Plot Harbinger" He's always dropping cryptic warnings about the future, but never talking about what is truly to pass

Ah, the Knight of Skeleton. Somehow I really doubt he was actually Gaiseric. It seems to me the only reason for a storyteller to write a character with such "obvious links" to another is purely to subvert expectations. I guarantee Miura was gonna flip our theories on its head. Since Skull Knight knows about the rebirth ceremony, then maybe he existed since BEFORE Gaiseric and Gaiseric was actually an incarnated Godhand like Griffith? The tale of his kingdom is a mirror to the new Falconia, after all. If not Gaiseric, who else would have been incarnated during the ceremony, and for what reason? Maybe Skull Knight is a former God Hand member and was incarnated but somehow lost the God Hand status? Maybe he was created by the Idea of Evil in order to fulfill mankind's desire for vengeance just like it created the God Hand for mankind's desire for Evil?

Zodd represented guts, skull night represents guts, Gambino acted like guts beginning of the story, Griffith was like guts in talent aspect, casca looks like guts when they were kids, evreyone is guts, guts is guts and guts is guts

"never coming back and will never be the same again" I have never in my life been sad in the slightest by a celebrity/artist/author's death, until Miura died. And to this day I'm genuinely sad about it, berserk is one of the greatest stories ever and for it to end on that cliffhanger of all things... Its not even like we were doing some random bullshit with the sea god, we were at the most awaited turning point in the story that we've been looking forward to for YEARS! The most tragic thing is, we all made jokes about he was surely going to die before finishing the manga. Thinking it was gonna be from old age. Manga finally starts picking up the pace with huge plot revelations and shit really starting to ramp up. And ofc Griffith meets guts again. Then Miura fucking dies 😭😭😭😭 reality is too cruel

With the series slated to continue, we’ll be getting more of the Number 1 skeleton man.

Finally some more content on my favourite character

The most badass character ever. And despite being the remnants of once great king there is still smth good coming from it. He rescued two branded from certain dead, supports the struggler and stands against the God hand. This world could improve tremendously due the actions of the skull knight and his allies. A world free of the good hand would save millions of souls. And may there will come an option even for SK to have salvation.

I think Skull Knights motive is to defy causality which is something God Hand is led by. And by making ripples on the pond of the causality that has a whirlpool in its center he could create waves that would obstruct and collapse the whirlpool. Caska and Guts are exceptions to the rule, this new band of strugglers are crating more ripples and triggering ripples else where. Rickert is on his way to be allied with Silat and Bakirakas, Elfhelm and their sorcery is joining. A new front will form from outside and within for Griffith when monsters feel the pressure and start attacking humans, his picture perfect kingdom will collapse and Skull knight will be there to jump him when he does not expect.

A part of me still wants to believe Skull Knight is *NOT* King Gaiseric. The few times when someone addresses him as "your majesty," it feels like an insult when spoken by the God Hand or a misdirection by the denizens of Elfhelm. His flashback to the fall of Gaiseric's empire, he calls it "the end a foolish king," without directly inferring his own identity. It's from that I see more of a parallel of who Skull Knight was to Gaiseric as Guts was to Griffith, with the same kind of events that led to both Eclipses. While he is completely drained of whatever humanity he has left, saving Casca was Skull Knight's way of not allowing the same tragedy that happened to his lover to befall Guts even though he knew Causality would put him on the same path of revenge. Thus furthering Skull Knight's true motive to seek revenge against Void.

Have you noticed that skull knight's love also had her right eye cut? Maybe he sees that parallel in guts.

I think in those last few chapters where he disclosed his history at Fantasia, it further enforced a "turning of the corner" for Guts, as Guts seems no longer interested in challenging Guts again but rather, despite lack of combat, has begun to find peace w/Casca (who'll likely remember everything WITHOUT going apeshit again), Schierke, Isidro, Puck, his son and others in the vein of when he found family and friends with the Band of the Hawk, except none of them are saying, "oh btw Guts, you're my slave".

I always thought that it was going to come down to if guts was willing to kill the child my guess he wouldn't do it because casca wouldn't want to kill the child and as a result guts and skull knight would end up fighting as a result.

I think of Skull Knight as the Gollum to Guts' Frodo.

Skull Knight is neutral (not good or evil). This man has some powerful magic and knowledge on the events to come. I don't think he believe he can stop the eclipse nor does he want to. His goal is singular.... his speech when he says that explains this part very well. He helps Guts because they are "soul brothers". Guts has the evil egg, the armor and the rage. Skull Knight saved him because he knows there's something about the causality with him; he's a "glitch in the Matrix". He also saves Casca, he saved her for "Guts".... MAYBE... remember SHE almost rode out the Eclipse. If Griff took an extra minute getting his wings, would she have made it out? What about her baby? Remember Ganishka and how he created apostles using pregnant women? That's not a coincidence. Griff's SA of and tainting of her child was intentional. Skull Knight, I believe sees causality or understands it because he's been dancing the same causality dance for a long time with Void. Instead of JUST futilely attacking Void and friends, he saves FOUR people who have some part to play in the story. They ALL have the ability to break his cycle. (I believe he's done this before and indirectly killed the previous godhand.) The People He Saved 1) Casca - Griff's mama in a way and he has to save her if she needs help (remember her brand and demons protected her), point proven when she wandered away...not normal for a branded survivor. 2) Ric... with the golden hand who slapped Griff. 3) The Moonlight Child... he's now apart of Griff UNINTENTIONALLY and he can pull Griff to his will and take over "his body". 4) And then there's Guts HE wasn't being "good" when he was saving them. It was for his own agenda. Skull Knight isn't human. He is what remains of his grudge with Void when he was human.... that's not a lot to hang moral compasses.

I’m so pissed, I spent $1,200 on a Skull Knight statue, and yesterday I was moving my manga around and put Vagabond onto a shelf, then the shelf totally collapsed and the books all went flying crashing down on top of my statue smashing it up. I nearly had a meltdown haha, it took me over 3 hours to glue the pieces back together, it’s not back perfectly, 2 of his spikes on his shoulders don’t have the tips and there’s a little piece on the bottom of his shield is chipped and I couldn’t find it. But just looking at it it looks fine, and I’m never going to sell it so it doesn’t matter about affecting the price.

Dammnnn what if the skull knight was the FINAL boss of the story. He ends up using guts to kill off the God hand and take over as the only ruler and regain his lost kingdom. That would be a wild asf twist.

Skull knight isn’t guts skull knight is like a what would happen to guts if he didn’t meet his companions and just charged straight ahead till the end but failed. It’s a different time line guts that doesn’t accept help or acknowledge others. That’s why him and guts have a shared emotional experiences toga her when they meet each other.
