While you are explaining the sensitivity values on the vent,I would like you to explain the effects that can cause when certain Rts don't pay quite attention to reduce these numbers.

Hey respiratory coach You are a fantastic respiratory therapist. All of your videos are knowledgeable. I want to ask how to increase and decrease mechanical dead space. In other words what settings we need to change in this case.

I hv 1 question when static compliance is given Pip given P plat given Tidal volume given Peep not given Can we calculate driving pressure from above equation?
@RespiratoryCoach
@RespiratoryCoach 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Roshan. To calculate driving pressure we must know what peep is. Driving pressure = Plat - peep. The above info does not provide us with a peep, but with the given information we can figure out the peep from the static compliance formula. Static compl = Vt / (Plat-Peep). So plug all the appropriate given values into that formula and you'll be able to solve for peep and driving pressure. You recognize that driving pressure is the bottom half of the static compliance formula. In other words, it's true to say that...Static compliance = Vt / Driving Pressure. Hope this makes sense and helps. Thanks for asking and watching!!!

Thanks Joe. How to add mechanical dead space? I mean what is the procedure.
@RespiratoryCoach
@RespiratoryCoach 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! To add mechanical dead space you simply add 6 inches of flex tubing in between the ventilator wye and the patient's artificial airway. This is a rarely used practice anymore. Thanks for asking and watching!!!
