@@RespiratoryCoach, I am actually the Deputy Chief of an agency. We are starting to utilize vents on our ambulance but it is not something that is taught to paramedics. So we have been watching your videos to learn.

I have a question, what happen when you decreased sensitivity on the vent, is it harder for the patient to trigger the vent or harder?

What is the best sensitivity to set a patient on .As I was listening to your triggering mechanism between flow or pressure, I had encountered this type of issue all the time.Sometimes, I come to a point where I want to Residents not to touch my vent.Most of the time they forget to switch the triggering mechanism appropriates to the right mode when they switch pressure control to assist control or assist control to pressure control.Sometimes, I walk into shift and finds ventilators on pressure control with flow triggering.What kind of abnormalities that can cause to someone?

Hi! Great work! What happens, if the trigger is set to zero (in the ventilator menu it's in between flow and pressure), and neither flow nor pressure? I mean, what happens in the ventilator, inside? Because the patient still can trigger with this setting. Thanks!

Where is the sensor in flow trigger and pressure trigger in the ventilator Sir
@RespiratoryCoach
@RespiratoryCoach 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sheetal. This depends on which ventilator you are using. Some are located within the ventilator itself, while other ventilators utilize flow sensors placed at the wye of the circuit, closer to the patient.

Great video man but at 8:05 when you said : if you have a bias flow of 5 liters of set , then the vent is sending out 5 liters and getting back 5 liters and no breath will be given other than the vent timed breath , i don't understand " the vent timed breath " mean in this point , can you explain this point ? . Thank you.
@RespiratoryCoach
@RespiratoryCoach 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Saccda. Let me try to clarify for you. All machine breaths are time triggered. Patient generated breaths are either pressure or flow triggered. Bias flow is a base amount of flow moving through the vent circuit. A flow trigger of 2lpm must have a at least 3lpm of bias flow moving through the circuit. When the vent sends out 3 and only gets back 1, then it recognizes this as a spontaneous effort from the patient. If not spontaneous efforts are detected then the only breaths that will occur are the time triggered machine breaths. That's what I was attempting to articulate at 8:05. Does that make sense? Let me know if not. Thanks for watching my friend!

Hello Joe. Is a flow trigger of 10 or 5 more sensitive on a vent?
@RespiratoryCoach
@RespiratoryCoach 4 ай бұрын
5 lpm is more sensitive than 10lpm. Great question. Thanks for watching!
@robertp3371
@robertp3371 4 ай бұрын
Thank you! I understand it as the return flow has to be 5LPM less than the bias flow before a breath is triggered as opposed to 10 which would be a much tougher trigger.
