I find it hilarious that as a baby anarchist you had an HRC flag set up in the background which is basically as liberal as queer activism can get. Loved the video!

Thank you Ashton for turning me into a leftist. I came for the trans content and stayed for the great political commentary. Even if you were less informed 2 years ago you were still a leftist which is more than I can say about myself. I still cringe looking back at my “centrist, anti sjw” politics from 2 years ago

That was cute, I remember painting anarchy signs all over all of my notebooks in school lol, still think there is a bit of truth to letting the people run things, because some of them really do have better ideas that woul work instead of these rich jerks that have never seen what it's like to live on food stamps, or get looked down on because I have medical assistance through the state. I USED to work, but had a mental breakdown at my last job 9 years ago and haven't been the same since (things had been building up, but that was the snapping point) And, from being looked at as an "upstanding citizen" to going to someone needing all the help I could get plus therapy, support groups and hefty medications, I'm floored at just how bad the different classes are treated. I also found out I was trans, then was looked even MORE down upon by doctors and such. Some out there think that we chose this path because it's easy, and I can tell everyone from experience, it's worse than having a job and just "shut up and work" so to speak. I never wanted to take the hardest way through life I could possibly think of and be shunned because of who I am. Anarchists would be more apt to help people like me than those rich old dudes up in DC! Thank you for the video and letting me rant! 👍🥰✌

ok i JUST watched that vid so im interested to see how u respond to urself! im a baby anarchist myself so sjsksk -comments as i watch because i., do this sometimes: i think it's really interesting that the reason u were drawn to anarchy is because you had a distrust of humans because im the exact opposite, i think if humans can help each other, which if i hadn't paused the video so soon i would have seen. -when Baby You said the thing about all political beliefs being fine i was like "huh thats not what Now Ashton would say but still valid" -yeah i think feeling like i cant do anything about it is a big thing for me so im glad u touched on that! -oh yeah!! my friend introduced me to leftism when i was ~8 and i only just became a leftist (im 17 now) like a year ago, but against me! and also ur channel were what introduced me to anarchy - i watched the 50 minute video! and im fighting my brain to let me read _this changes everything_ now all in all this is a gr8 video. thank u

I've been watching your videos since before then! Videos like this of yours basically radicalised me from "im a dem and think we should all be nice" to "oh shit theres a political ideology saying we should all be nice"

Hello veteran here, I sure am glad I didnt leave a comment on the video at the time because I was a clueless liberal back then. I’m still clueless about a lot of things but at least I’m an anarchist now. I’ve done some bits and pieces of reading but I still have much to learn. I broadly label myself as an anarcho-communist or an eco-anarchist, I feel I haven’t done enough reading into anarcho-syndicalism to claim that label. There were many factors that lead to my radicalisation, your channel being one of them, but in a weird way I was radicalised through Hadestown? Because when Olly posted his cover from his Steve ban on video I watched it then watched the rest of his videos then branched out into many more leftist youtubers then stated to read some theory and get involved with IRL action
@Idot-moder

Speaking of weird things to be radicalized by, I was radicalized by George Orwell's 1984. Not from tankie to anarchist, which would be fairly normal, but from neoliberal to libertarian socialist. Honestly I think it was the crumb of theory he sneaked in through "the bool" (i thjnk its actual title was "collective oligarchism and its practice by Emanuel Goldstein" or something like that. Also that in the modern day, the type of constant surveillance and repression Orwell described is much closer to the actions performed by corporations than anything even the most repressive governments could hope to reasonably accomplish. (I'm panarcho-socialist now, if you're wondering)

I've seen your political videos in my recommended before but never bother to watch, and now that I've realized how crucial understanding politics is to my life, since governments basically control my actions and are currently playing a major role in further pushing or solving environmental issues, I decided to click this and give it a shot. To me the word "anarchy" made me think of chaos, when it really means no government, and it's so weird how much I agree with this video?? I thought I'd just disagree the whole time, but honestly I have lot of faith in people, or as you put it, I have more faith in communities than I do in specific individuals to function on their own without government. So yeah!! aa!! I'll be going through all your political videos to try and find political literature to better educate myself- yipee

i think i started watching your videos maybe a couple weeks or so after you posted that one? either way it was basically the thing that got me into anarchy. i haven’t done much reading, and idk if i ever will, cause more educational books can be hard for me to read, i like novels. but i still consider myself an anarchist, just a not very educated one lol. also i care about your patch-y endeavors! i made a pair of crustish shorts a little while ago but they don’t fit anymore, rip. plus all the stitching i did (it was a lot of fucking stitching, i literally covered the entire thing in little patches) made them just about the least stretchy thing ever and the crotch ripped. but good luck with yours!
