Responding to the New Age: Basic Apologetics Course (Art Lindsley)

C.S. Lewis said he believed that the great religious rivalry is between Christianity (as the highest representative of theism) and pantheism (all is one). The New Age movement has exploded in the West in the last thirty years. Eastern religious philosophy of various types has infiltrated many areas of our everyday life. Film series like Star Wars, various holistic health approaches, and transpersonal psychology are just a few places where this view impacts our society. The New Age book sections in leading bookstores are as large or larger than the Christian book sections.
If we fail to understand this growing movement, we will be unable to respond to those affected by it or perhaps even be unaware of how it is affecting us. Even though the New Age movement has “new” elements, it is really an ancient philosophy. This “all is one” and “you are god” approach goes back to Old Testament paganism.

As a newer Christian who came out of New Age, this presentation is spot on. You spoke with kindness about the things taken so seriously in that culture. My transition to understand I needed a savior was like the flip of a switch. Prior to that, I was slowly disillusioned about being my own "unlimited" savior... Thank you for this talk and I pray it helps people to understand ways to approach other folks within their new age beliefs.

Thank you for this lecture. Very informative and gracious. I recently came out of the new age and occult. Please keep producing content on these topics. You will save many from the snares of the devil and snatch them out of Hell!

As a former new ager, I am so thankful The Lord saved me from that deception. The ideas of non-distinction are not natural to the human mind. God did not design us to relate to the world that way. We cannot look at the world around us and truly believe it does not exist. This is why very few people through history have ever attained abiding awakening or nirvana. It is an impossible modality. However, billions of people have accepted Jesus Christ into their life and been able to maintain a lifelong relationship with him. Thank The Lord!

It's funny how buddhism wants us to believe the impossible....i.e. they want us to believe that everything we see is an illusion, and the perception of separation is a lie. This is an impossible view to maintain while living in our daily world. It just doesn't work. So, they want us to believe this impossibility, yet they would not be willing to believe the "impossibility" of Jesus being bodily resurrected.
