Die Lange Zeit, in der die Sirene dem Zivilschutz gedient hat, hat auf jeden Fall ihre Spuren hinterlassen.
In Teil 1 der Restauration meiner HLS 381 zeige ich euch, wie ich die Sirene zunächst zerlegt und gereinigt habe.
Bleibt dran, um auch Teil 2 nicht zu verpassen!

Das ist tatsächlich das erste Mal, dass ich den Schallgeber einer HLS der letzten Generation sehe. Ansonsten kann ich mich nur freuen, dass eine weitere HLS definitiv in sicherer Hand ist.

Ich kann Deine Faszination gut nachvollziehen. Als ich vor vielen Jahren bei einem Faschingsumzug in Neuhausen eine Gruppe der dortigen Freiwilligen Feuerwehr mit einer Handkurbelsirene gesehen hatte, war ich nahe dran, sie zu fragen, ob ich die Sirene bekommen könne. 😆 Ich ließ es dann aber doch. Dafür habe ich aber eine alte Taschenlampe mit angebauter Rotationssirene, die immer noch funktioniert. Für die Größe auch schon ganz gut laut, das Ding. 😉 Der Ton kommt dabei hauptsächlich in Achsrichtung raus. Wenn ich einen Joghurtbecher ohne Boden als Schalltrichter auf diese Öffnung setze, klingt das noch viel markanter. Als ich in Huchenfeld mal bei einer Sirenenprobe eine Tonaufnahme mit einem Kunstkopfeigenbau machte, fragte mich ein Junge gleich danach ob ICH das "Geräusch" mit meinem komischen Ding gemacht habe... 😂😂 Offenbar wusste er gar nicht, was der Sirenenton eigentlich bedeutet...

FINALLY someone restoring an HLS! Or the “baby Model 120” lol. Also the motor on this LITERALLY looks just like the Model 120 motor, and so does the whole chopper assembly

16 bar pressure with 6000L air tank will be very difficult to provide for testing. Possibly a tank used for propane heating fuel could be used for air.

If the pressure is not enough, the siren just won't be that loud. But if the air source cannot provide decent flow, the siren would be unable to make noise seconds after activation... Would a Roots blower work? Not good at generating high pressure but it could provide a decent flow. Or maybe use some liquid nitrogen? It expands 600 times through evaporation. But the problem is that most liquid nitrogen jars are not designed for holding pressure. Or hook it up to a steam boiler? Wondering if the airtight seal would surrender under heat.

Wow, Glückwunsch! Sehr schönes neues Intro. Nur einen Verbesserungsvorschlag habe ich: wenn du die Musik leiser machst, könntest du die Musik Faden, und nicht abgehackt lauter und leiser machen. Ist aber trotzdem super!

Hi Felix ! Ein sehr interessantes Stück. Die funktioniert nun wieder ganz anders, wie die mit dem Rotor, der die Luft nur nach außen bläst. Vor allem, mit der Kupplung. Die dient wohl der Servicefreundlichkeit, oder ? :-D

I can tell you actually. When these are installed, there is an underground air compressor (electric if it is an HLS-373 and diesel if it is an HLS-273) that pressurizes air in large air tanks. When the siren receives activation tones, the compressor starts running, the valve in the air tanks opens and sends the air through the siren’s pole and into the head where it is chopped by a small 4 port chopper which is driven by a 24 volt motor. Then the sound goes downward through 4 holes on the bottom of the chopper assembly and into the 4 horns which project it outwards. The center hole in the chopper assembly is for the air pipe that is inside the siren’s pole
