For the 21st century generation, it doesn't matter if it's the 50s or the 80s. Yes, even in the 40s.

There is no way this stereo unit is from 1950. The first compact cassette appeared in 1965. Boomboxes didn't exist in the world until they appeared in 1970 in Japan, and usually, they were too big to carry. The stereo unit also had a small integrated TV screen. Boomboxes became available worldwide in 1980. This unit has advanced electronics, and I doubt capacitors existed 70 years ago. If they existed, they weren't small like these. Also, the electronics industry in Malaysia has not developed enough to produce speakers. At that time, they were produced only in Europe, Japan, the Eastern Bloc, and Yugoslavia. Sony started manufacturing audio in 1970. The first device they made in 1957 was a rice cooker.

Capacitors were around 70 years ago, but they were the paper & wax types, which were prone to failure. I replaced hundreds of them in the old vacuum tube type radios, as I owned a few. My very first radio was a vacuum tube job. First thing I did to it, with my father's help was replace the capacitors. There was portable boom box type radios around too, & these were vacuum tube units. Batteries at the time didn't last long. Sony were making audio gear long before 1970, except they didn't export many items from Japan. Sony were selling stuff here in Australia several years after WW2, & certainly well before 1957.

I took out the tape cover for easy access and voila, my friends were impressed at me for scratching and mixing on this oldschool gear!
