I wouldn't consider it unfixable, but rather just not worth it. I definitely don't know how things are in his country, but in my country you can get used, mint condition phones like Galaxy Y for 10-30euros. New screen costs probably about 10-20 euros, so why bother?

What a great recovery a phone that most of us don’t need but to recover something from the past, shows humbleness to care, to even fix something that most of us would consider lower value. Comparing it to the nice and shiny phones we have. It makes me think about how much joy I can have for being able to have such a good phone. It makes me feel hope for caring for something so little.
