Restoration of a Vintage Omega Seamaster Cosmic Watch - Caliber 752

This time i´am restoring an Omega Seamaster Cosmic.
It´s powered by the famous Omega 752 automatic movement. A nice
and robust in-house-movement, red-golden colored and equipped
with a swan-neck fine adjustment. It beats at 19800bph and
the lift angle of the balance is at 49°.
The referencenumber of this Omega is 166.036 and after some
investigations, i believe it´s from 1967.
The movement works... at least for some seconds after shaking
or winding it up by hand. The crystal has many scratches and the case
has some bumps and marks. The crown is not original and the old
strap is not only ugly but also in a bad condition.
This watch has a monocoque-case, so i need to take out the
movement to the front after removing the crystal. I don´t have the
original Omega "Tool 107", but a common crystal-remover gets
the job done by ease as well.
Even with the dial and hands removed, the movement stops
after a few seconds. I need to disassemble the whole movement,
clean all the parts and re-assemble it with some fresh oil.
Lucky me, the movement is working great again. The amplitude
is at 230° - exactly what it should be and the accuracy
of +3 seconds per day is not bad for a watch more than 50 years old.
The acrylic glass is a genuine Omega. It has the Omega-Logo
engraved on the center. The scratches can be polished away and only
one or two small bumps are left. The case needs to be polished very
carefully, i don´t want to erase the sunburst-finish on the top.
Dial and hands are cleaned up and the watch can be assembled again.
Finally the watch gets an original crown and a new strap
that matches the color of the dial.
I hope you liked this restoration, if so, like, comment and subscribe ;)

These watches are beautiful and it is a wonderful craftsmanship! That said...a 20.00 quartz watch is water proof and keeps better time and if you lose it or scratch it then you don't care. Quartz also gives you the day and date and seconds...moon phase...timer...etc That is what I gave for my Armitron pro sport 3 years ago and it is still going with no battery change and the time is within a minute in 6 months.

Every Watch is built kind of similar. This is a very simple watch without much complications. So as a Watchmaker you know what job each part have and you find it's place. It doesn't mater if it is an Omega, ETA, or a Seiko. Sure there are always special parts within eatch movment but when you know the mechanic you find it's place. Its like a car engine. The transmission comes allways after the engine or the brakes are mostly lokated on the Wheels. Even if the Breakpads are different in Form

I just stumbled on to one of your videos yesterday and now i am hooked to see how delicate the parts are and the delicate nature one needs to be able to take a watch apart and restore one is unbelievable . it makes me want to learn everything i can about watches and maybe invest in some tools. this looks like a hobby i would be interested in pursuing . There must be years of education with the various parts, brands and techniques used to restore or repair any watch . I appreciate the awesome videos . you are clearly a master at your craft.
