at first i was thinking the same but at the end i think is ok because the air is sucked from outside the holes and pushed through motor ribs. the problem will be if the air was sucked from the pulley side and through holes out - in that case the airflow will be very poor and causing overheating and finally damage.

@@danbilotto7785 The air inlet holes are too small, the blower won't suck hardly any air through them, it'll just recirculate air inside the housing and try to pull through the exhaust. There's one point in the video where there's a piece of paper or something on one of the ribs while the motor is running and its barely moving around. To see how bad the airflow problem is, look at the blower guard in the beginning of the video before he cuts it out, it has orders of magnitude more open space than the one that he made in the end.
