Restoration Of Rare Giant Wood Sawing Machine // Restoring Wood Cutting Saws For Carpentry Workshops
Hi all.Welcome to the channel: Restoration Products! In this episode we found a classic wood-cutting saw, very big and heavy. and no longer works. We worked hard for many days. I did my best to show all the work and I am sure that my method will be improved in future videos. I think all the hard work on this project will get this saw to work again. Our mission is to entertain and give you the opportunity to discover forgotten tools. Please subscribe to my channel so you don't miss anything. Thanks for watching and supporting me. I really appreciate this! Thanks a lot!!!

Great old sawmill. I know a guy who has one very similar to this one. I've helped him run it a few times. Blade guides will help get a more flat and straight cut. Great job on the restoration.

Aren't you concerned about the grease picking up sawdust? Perhaps just a light oil would work better in that application.

Great Job as usual. Missing from the equipment you bought is a translucent plastic container (usually contains at least 2 US gallons) that slowly dispenses a mixture of water and liquid soap onto the blade. The liquid both cools and lubricates the blade as it cuts the wood.

I only made it about 10 minutes into this. The young guy and his pipe wrench was the end form me. When you are restoring something it’s best not to damage it more than it already is.

There are quite a few negative comments here-one is mine. I hope they're more an issue of "observation" than criticism, and that he learns from those which are true/valid. Fortunately they're fairly easy to fix not to expensive. One of the most valuable lessons for a channel owner is realizing that viewers like seeing restorations done right-not necessarily "their way" but correct/safe vs quickly/the bare minimum/unsafe. Live and learn hey?

Obviously blade guides will help any saw cut. My question is was this a rebuild for someone who is operating a sawmill? Your location is not one that will work well for you unless you have massive lands , unseen to us. And if that’s the case then moving this saw to the open lands should be done prior to any repair. The accuracy of these saws is dependent the foundation beneath it. Building it, repairing it, and using it again and again, successfully requires that kind of consistency. If you want to start sawing trees in that shop things are gonna get crowded real fast. Oh, and next time around let’s get a vacuum and leaf blower on this first! This is obviously a shop class project, and a damn good one at that, congrats guys! Excellent job. I hope the mill you did this for rewarded you well.

There is one-rather was one kinda. You can see it at 4.07 a top-of-the-line 5 gal bucket-even has an on/off valve and a section of hose. 🤨 Lol, you're right it needs one. I'd also be concerned/focused on the bearings i.e., the ones they didn't replace or even re-pack or tape off before painting [41.14]-instead they simply painted right over them. Lends a whole new meaning to the term "Grease Paint" hey? 😂
