There was a heap of it left on the heatsink plate, all of the coppery looking stuff. That being said, this PS3 is dead, looks like it had BGA failure with the amount of flux on the back of the board, it definitely wasn't repaired properly.

Absolutely right - you can tell the RSX chip has been reflowed (or attempted). As for the other commenters, it's common to clean with water (usually distilled) and you don't need thermal paste to test it (I work on these all the time and don't use it until it's fully fixed) and in the video there is paste on the heatsink. He doesn't have any thermal pads as well...it's a dead PS3 plain and simple.

He was afraid it would explode after how he mangled it. It was better off the way he "found" it

The best method is warm, soapy water then a quick bath in isopropyl alcohol to speed up the drying process. Give it plenty of time to dry before adding power but, yes very effective.

No viste bien el video amigo,ala intemperie no estuvo jamás,estoy con los que opinan que es un fake,1 que raro encontrar una ps3 en una bolsa y bien atada,2 sucia con cenizas asta la placa base (con la de chapas que tiene la placa base),estas son los 2 detalles con lo que pienso que es un fake total¡ un saludo

If have no power at all it is fine just have to make sure you get it 100% DRY. The reason why electronics die from water if drip in sink bathtubs river lakes pools or what ever else and it ruins them is for the battery is connected and the device or what ever is on. That’s why I’d drop something in water it is said to turn off immediately and if can remove battery then put in a bag full of rice to dry out. I have dropped many things in water in my life like old school pagers remove the AA battery threw it in rice then when turned on had got many pages lol. It’s not the water that kills shit it’s the electricity.

@@mentallyderanged9169 we're talking about high voltage ac from the wall outlet into the power supply, the trafo might still have some water inside of the down regulating copper spool, and that will create a short cuircuit and it simply blow drying a psu from the outside will not really dry all of the water off.

And I was replying to this, Might as well go throw that console back in the trash after cleaning electrical components with dish soap. What a waste of time. He said after cleaning ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS with dish soap so what I replied to had NOTHING to do with PS or a drier in general. I am speaking based on electrical components. It doesn’t matter what kind as the comment did NIT say the AC adaptor or a hair drier won’t get it dried out. As I stated cleaning with water and dish soap would be fine IF got it 100% clean and dried before giving it any kind of power. Sk not sure what you read from the comment or the reply.
