wikkiam howell Hi yes they were good earners! My favourite was my TK 6wheeler flat. She could carry a whisker over 10tons payload on 17” wheels with a 24’ flat. My mate was running a 17ton gvw Renault which if my memory is correct was £1200? Per annum road tax,where as my Bedford was £320. This was 1988. I believe GPA 264V is still about.

Being the owner of a few Bedfords in my life this channel has to be one of my favourites on KZfaq. I really appreciate the talent of these guys and their chassis manufacturing and engineering skills. I often think it would be a great thing to send our apprentices over their on an exchange basis to take them back to the basic skills and also the personal satisfaction thee guys must get from every job they tackle. I must ask one question please, the painting, ornate figures and woodwork etc that goes onto the trucks....even under the mudguards, is it purely decorative or does it tell a story, represent a faith...... excuse my ignorance and I mean no disrespect whatever, it is pure curiosity and admiration. Keep those Beddy's going boys

@@StudyUpdates-bx5ow You must be an eye doctor! A wreck no less than 50 years old has been converted into road worthy condition. It will only see shop next few years for regular maintenance and nothing else. A shop can't survive in Pakistan if owner shows displeasure due to shoddy workmanship.

Bedford trucks, along with Vauxhall cars were General Motors' UK division back in the day, Vauxhall were sold off to a French consortium and the only Bedfords you'll see on British roads are in preservation.

I just watched men build a frame with no CAD no plasma cutter just a torch a hydraulic press and hammers. And I'm sure that frame is just as strong or stronger than the ones we pay 100k for true crafts men. A dying trade..

Great video. Enjoy watching the great craftsmanship. Just would like more emphasis on safety. Welding flashes damage all eyes even if not looking at weld. Also use eye protection for grinding and slag removal. Thanks

I am from Finland, first truck was driving was Bedford J 6 had steel cabin think cabin was made in Sweden or then was original English. 4 gears and double speed drive axle, no pover steering 8,5 rounds on wheel left to right. By law was total weight 10600 kg, but was loaded with 7-8 m3 gravel so about 11000 to 12500 kg. Was from year 1973 so was last J6 was imported to Finland. Was closed area where was driving so could load what want. And was loaded too. That was about 35 years ago.

In Pakistan the import of j6 from England ended in 1986. But still we hv these on our roads. All of these trucks hv been restored many times. Now a days truckers use different gear n diff combo to haul heavy loads. Some use Eaton 2 speed diff and gear box from an L series mercedes truck. Or gear n diff from a Japanese Hino or Nissan and can load up to 20 tons

1970 BEDFORD I HAVE NOT COMPLETE GHANA EDUCATION MIDDLE SCHOOL. I COMPLETE EDUCATION 1971 SO THIS TRUCK OLD . I LIKE THIS BRITISH TURKS THEY ARE VERY RELIABLE IT IS EASY FOR THE GHANAIAN'S AUTO MECHANIC TO FIX AND ALBION OR ANY BRITISH TRUKS .YOU DOING WELL WITH THIS OLD TRUCKS. PLEASE LET THE MECHANICS PUT ON WORKING SHOES AND GLOVES AND WORKING UNIFORMS. THANKS

Looks like a 12 scoop ice cream cone with sprinkles, ju jus and what not and dipped twice for good measure. That truck is over the top and quite the rolling art show. Beautiful craftsmanship on the Bedford

Amazing that they managed to hand make the chassis covers with such basic tools. I did wonder about the chassis number but I noticed they left a slot in the new one to show the old number. Got to be mighty strong after all that extra steel is added!

Bedford trucks are part of the general motors division some Australian Bedford trucks would have their motors swapped out and have V8s conversions mainly 253 and 308 V8 petrol these were General motors holdens engines

Me recordó a unos trabajos que vi en el naranjo San Luis Potosí Mexico, donde al camión nuevo le quitaron el chasis y le colocaron canaletas reforzadas y soldadas y armaron un camión de caña de azúcar ....saludos
