Although it is really beautiful, and I am amazed at what you did with it, the best part was the one little sentence at the end about this having belonged to your father AND that is why you wanted to save the handle. I have a ball peen hammer that belonged to my grandfather and even though it needs a new handle, there is something important about being able to hold the same surface as he did. It provides a certain measure of continuity. Thank you.

Thank you also, you're right, that is the main reason.

Wood takes decades to grow and to be fit to purpose. Metal can always be recycled. I never understood people attempting to "recycle" tools with an history, who throw away the wood parts as a first step in their restoration project!

Great video lovely restoration. I work at a skip company and the amount of old handtools like this thrown in the skip is heartbreaking to think of the history behind them, i have to bring them home with me.

I have a joke, as this appeared on my screen prior to this video I was working on a woodworking demolition and the handle came off the chisel! It wasn't vintage it's practically brand new! 😱 It's those inexpensive models now I have to strongly glue it back to the handle! I had to share this. Thank you for showing this video.
